When you think of it, Arteta joining Arsenal and covid came at a great time relative to eachother. The team's worst season of the century was played behind closed doors, saving matchgoing fans from travelling around the country to watch such a shitshow and when they were allowed back in we started to see progress back towards the top season on season.

Going into the 2021-22 season. I predicted Arsenal were going to finish 13th. They ended up finishing 5th and just barely missing out on champions league It was a bold prediction, but I get why I thought it. Two straight 8th place finishes could have done that to their confidence

Yet during lockdown, as crap as the team was, they actually won something. I repeat, football is a results business, the metric of success is trophies in football, not how good of a player you are. In the history books, they are remembered for the silverware
