One man's personal triumph in managing diabetes has ignited a passion within him to share his knowledge and experience. Through the revolutionary ‘5-pillar approach’, Harrisberg encourages people to take control of their health, so that like him, they can live a fuller, happier and healthier life. Drew Harrisburg is the creator of Drew’s Daily Dose, in his own words, “much more than a website...a home that inspires, empowers and enables people with diabetes to thrive, rather than simply live with it”. His background as a health professional and his own personal triumph with managing diabetes has ignited a passion within him to share his knowledge. Through the revolutionary ‘5-pillar approach’, Harrisberg encourages people to take control of their health, so that like him, they can live a fuller, happier and healthier life. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

got diagnosed only a few months ago, it was so overwhelming for me to even look at the food. I could not imagine that I had lost a healthy life in just a blink of an eye it broke me but one day I woke up looked in the mirror and said to myself its not my fault but it sure is my responsibility. I haven't looked back since I cannot emphasis how important our attitude towards any adversity is, it changes the game big time I wish anyone who is struggling will find just enough courage to redirect their minds towards a healthy attitude as it makes everything bearable to a certain extend

This was awesome. I’m 29 and just diagnosed with diabetes, although not sure which type yet. Blood results to show in the coming months. But I don’t think that matters. These pillars hold true for any type. I was feeling a bit down but this reinforced the idea I or anyone else with diabetes can live a normal life.

Sarah Halberg has a very informative Ted talk on diabetes, backed by science. It can be helpful to T1D patients, definitely for T2 patients.
