I finished adjusting the valves yesterday. Almost every one was tight, not super tight. All still valves still had a gap - at least 75% of the min. recommended. It is a 2010 CRV with only 65k on it. The check engine light has not come on yet - only been driven twice - it has been taking 5-10 drive cycles for it to come on after clearing it with code reader. I disconnected the battery this last time. It still may come on..... It seems to be a little more responsive, a little more noisier - "valvey".. I also replaced the gas cap. We will see happens.

Were the valves tighter or looser or both? What was the odometer (mileage) were they adjust at? Honda recommends that you "check" the valves every 30k and an adjustment at 100k. I do not know how you check the valves without removing the valve cover and using the feeler gauge. At that point, are you not adjusting the valves or you might as well be adjusting the valves because you are already in there?
