When Terry was revealed, it had a lovely amount of style. Kazuha's felt like it was missing a few cogs.

Other people in the comments on this video are saying that the trailer was actually cool because it's ominous and Kazuya kills people, but I'm more inclined to agree with Daniel here. The music especially dropped the ball, there was almost nothing going on in terms of sound until halfway through. Compare that to other trailers (even Smash ones) and the music fits: creepy music for Castlevania, foreboding music for Ridley, etc.

As a casual tekken fan who was excited to see kazuya in smash and the trailer was kinda hype at the start, it didnt keep that energy tho. I can completely see what dad is talking about here and completely understand

I wouldn't necessarily called the reveal disappointing, I found it quite the opposite where there was a lot of moves being shown and my brain went oh a complex character getting rep nice!

I haven't played Tekken But I assume Kazuya's trailer is more meaningful for people familiar with him. And I'm sure the volcano thing was really cool for people whi know it's significance And I think that's cool, Smash is a celebration of games and it's characters ^^

Always remember, my friends, that Daniel is old and senile in his late 20’s. His opinion on videogames should not affect your own, he only remembers Tetris and Dark Souls

On the topic of Kazuya in smash, he’s absolutely annoying to fight against They gave him the following: Bowser’s Tough Guy Super armour in smash attacks A comeback mechanic A reflector that deals more damage than any other A command grab A recovery that he can act out of A fast projectile that reaches nearly the entire stage He’s the 8th heaviest character in the game so he’s more than likely to reach high percentage levels before he’s KO’d He always faces you because he’s a fighting game character He has more input moves than any other character meaning he has more options Basically a character I hope they never ever bring back for Smash 6

I always try to be optimistic with Smash. Even if it's a character I don't know/like, then at least I can be happy for others. Smash picks are not geared toward you specifically. I'm not a die-hard Tekken fan since I've only played a few of them, but still seeing Dan's reaction was pretty frustrating. The reveal is pretty sick when you know the references. Also not exciting? He kills like 5 characters, starting with the Demon King of people. Plus, Kazuya is a more villainous character so it makes more sense for his intro to be slow and ominous rather than loud flashy.

Dan might as well just say “If you’re a fan of Tekken cool, we don’t all need to have good taste”
  • @FalteredGreed
I was here for this god it was incredibly frustrating to watch

i am not like a huge fan of Tekken but saying the reveal was boring is being a bit harsh. The toss into the volcano is iconic and seeing it live was so cool because that was such a surprise. I guess if you know nothing about Tekken, i can see why you think that but then you could say that for every Smash DLC characters. I'm glad he say that he was salty for no reason tho.
  • Honestly if there’s one thing Dan isn’t very good at it’s expressing a negative opinion without repeating himself a lot. Just a personal pet peeve of mine though when anyone repeats themselves a lot.

Dear Drifterious Monarch Clippush, the ancient calcium composed exoskeleton of my corporeal flesh is unable to maintain the ambiguities many of my character, due to the limited extents of the English dictionary. However, the mechanisms in my phsyche hath elaborated thy plans two for ye to choose. Shall I end the ambiguous statement of my person in these messagery stablishment denominated such as "comment section", or shall I attempt to introduce ambiguity beyond the limitations of the English idiom and further explore new language and ambiguities? The choice is for thee to make, my lord
  • The big issue with the Kazuya reveal is it does the opposite of what a Smash reveal NEEDS to do, draw a player with little or no knowledge in and make them go "i get it, i know why i should be interested now" but the problem is the Kazuya trailer is good for those that understand "ah yes this is the cliff he got thrown off as a child this has significance" but has NOTHING for those that don't know that. To use Terry's Trailer as the same comparison, barely anyone knew who he was but the trailer is presented in such a way that keeps the viewer who has no idea about KoF engaged, while being a fun little reel for those that DO know, therefore doing what smash as a whole should always be doing, getting people who don't know about certain IPs to feel interested. That's what made people try, and like, IPs they weren't familiar with in Melee and Brawl, because the package the games were in made you more interested in those characters, rather than be fanservice for those already on-board

Haven't played tekken but i like Kazuya as a char even started playing him despite being ass with him
