It's a common mistake to think the double broken line where a minor road joins a major road means exit only - or no entry. But this is not actually it's meaning. In this video I explain and demonstrate it's meaning as mentioned in the highway code and how it can be used on Mini Roundabouts.

As a 46yr old passing my test on the second attempt before my 18th (approx 1994) this is something i did not know. Thankyou for teaching an old dog a new trick

Hi Richard, fellow ADI here. I learned something new from this (as with many other things from you) thanks for the info

Dear Richard, Thank you so much. I passed my test today in Melbourne, Australia and your videos helped me achieve it. Thank you for the wonderful work you do, explaining difficult topics in such an approachable, patient and easy to understand way. ❤ 🎉

I've been driving for years and find these useful refreshers. We should always be trying to improve and stay updated. Keep content coming

I passed last week, 1st try, with 2 minors, with the help of your videos! If I had to give any advice to learners now it would be to just take your time and be really on top of your observations. You got this!

In France, even if the road is wide enough for only one car, the give way or stop line will only be half the size of the road entry way to indicate it's two way road. if the line goes accross the entire road then it's one way only.

I passed my test in 1988 and still remember very nearly all of the advice and tips in your videos. I'm astounded that people don't know the simplest of rules, even when they might have only passed months or a few years ago. I'd like car insurance renewal to include a mandatory online test including questions on lane discipline, parking partly on the pavement, and other common mistakes. The more questions you get wrong, the higher your insurance rates for the forthcoming year. Yes, people might cheat by looking up the answers, but that's okay because they'll then know how to do it correctly.

Richard I know Ive commented before about your teaching before but you're so talented at delivering information in a passionate but orderly way. I wish I had learned under you originally but your videos help my skills stay sharp! Thank you for being an amazing example to all us drivers and keep on posting!

Great video Richard - passed my test on Friday and couldn’t have done it without your channel. So so pleased to have my licence. Legend!

Hey Richard, used to watch your videos a lot while learning, 20k miles after passing in less than a year and still enjoying driving everyday, and I got comfortable driving everywhere especially in London, really fun. thanks for the videos through the learning process

I love watching these videos since you can provide information that isn't clear or takes a while to access because it's in an obscure location.
  • @Firebrand55
I come back to these How-To's because I believe going back to first principles is a continual process. I've been driving a very long time but I don't take anything in the motoring scene for granted....revising is essential, if only to keep up to date with Highway Code amendments. Conquer Driving is excellent for the forgoing!

Under some of the dash cam video, people got confused about who should give way when approaching mini roundabouts, this one explained clearly. thank you for up load this one!
  • @Batman-ro9mj

I'm living in canada but love to listen to this guy advise...he's very smart on driving info..keep up the good work Richard..
  • @Mike_5
Very informative and comprehensive and the double 'Give Way' markings are used extensively on unlit roads particularly where the speed limit approaches the National Speed Limit as they are reflective to head lights and assist driver's on the main road to see the unsigned junction
  • @darrenglaser4742
Great and detailed, and easy as always! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, they pay off!
  • @Ima-hoot
Good video form a long time driver. I’ve driven on many narrow roads and technically the speed limit would be quite dangerous. Driving needs to be based on the road and conditions and lots of common sense !
