i like that the clone conspiracy links back to the basketball player in the lyrics acting out of character compared to their identity back home. from the perspective of the song narrator, he is a different person, not the person they once knew. sometimes it’s easier to think something bizarre, like they are a clone or replacement, than face the hard truth that someone you love has changed

This is so frickin neat, it’s both really neat that they came back to this song (it’s one of my favorites), and also used it to tell a different story, as bizzare and good-natured in its references while still bringing back to the same themes of being unable to accept that people change, whether you’re comfortable with it or not. Love all the details of the comments sayin he’s goin too far, the people invested in the journey anyway, and the fact that /of course/ the first thing this dude would do after finding a clone of himself (despite finding who knows how many Dave clones!) would to make a series of videos on it. Just a really cool concept for reinterpreting this song, very well edited and very well directed.

It's kind of sad to me how they weren't able to do a video for each song as I think they were planning at the time but I LOVE how this one got re-contextualized with their growth as artists!!!

in my memory, this is the first time in history when a band used the idea for music clip, after a very cool and memorable live performance, made a theory, plot from it and beat everything very cool

I can't believe I just found out this music video came out 7 MONTHS AGO. I remember back in 2016-2017 I REALLY wanted a music video for this song. Tho this music video isn't what I expected it to be I am so happy to see this song finally got a music video after all these years.
