Life At Sea In The Merchant Marine Aboard A Cargo Ship

Over 90% of the world's trade is carried by sea.
A Cargo Ship in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean experiences some weather changes and developing seas over the course of two and a half hours. This is a great video to leave on in the background or to skip ahead to the various weather changes.
You could also pretend you are the AB on lookout on the port bridge wing and watch the entire video if you have 2.5 hours to kill...let me know if you have anything to report in the comments!

Filmed using the GoPro Hero 8 Black.

I'm so glad that this is not some typical looped video. It is a great video to understand and feel the size of our world.

Yes, I miss this. Was at sea for almost 40 years from start to finish. Thanks for sharing. Now away from sea 8 years!

Such a cool job. The ocean is just massive. So vast and empty, scarey, quiet. Just absolutely nothing but water for miles and miles and miles on end. 😲

When watching this, I can truly see how beautiful the ocean is. Just beautiful

Just terrific. Mesmerizing and yet the view - the weather, the mood of the sea and the way the ship handles it all changes constantly. I really like the view looking forward along the side of the ship. Out on the wing is the best seat in the house. Thanks for sharing.

From 1:37:47 the ships takes on som huge waves. I can only wonder how much water is being thrown around. There are so much raw power at play here from the nature and manmade supership! You can even see the ship wiggle trough it like a champ. Great video.

This ship handles the waves very well.

Hi, sometimes i like to seat on my desk and have supper watching something so just relax and eat, first i look for train runs ( cabin view train runs), they are good but some of them are too fast for watching and eating, so i look and i find this video, perfect , easy going ship in blue waters, so thank you for posting it .
  • As a kid our family used to visit the US every two years from Brasil and later Argentina. The journey north was on a plane and then the return home was on a ship. Either the Moore McCormack or Delta lines during the 50's and 60's. My brother and I would spend hours watching this scene from the life boat deck. Rough days were the best!
  • I used to work on ships (just wrote a book about my first one) and this made a bunch of memories flood back. I love it. I was trying to guess which direction the ship is heading.

Something i love about these videos is when the bow smashes onto a wave and the water comes back and soaks the bridge.
