A positive angle on this series? You are a brave and bold man Tom. Can't wait to witness how this critique fares...
-
Vicki Vale has been around for a long time. At least since the 50's? Batman #81, Feb 1954. 👍
-
All-Star Batman was brilliant. Whenever I show it to a new reader (not a fanboy), they love it. I particularly loved the Black Canary issue - and the rapport between Wonder Woman and Superman
-
Vicky Vale was a golden age character created by Kane and Finger. She was a major character in the Robert Lowery Batman movie serials in the 40's too.
-
I really wished Miller and Lee could have finished this series, this is the kind of alternate/elseworld type of Batman stories I like.
-
Similar to DKSA, All Star is a fun pop art silver age Batman that I just love more than the typically more grounded takes most Batman fans love
-
One of the best Miller works!

You are Soooo justified in loving this series. I can't believe how long we've waited for the sequel.... It's like the Miracleman of the DC Universe.
-
You are appreciated Tom. I feel like so much of comics youtube is just people regurgitating the same boring opinions over and over again, it's really nice to have channels like this and CK that actually care about the craft and have interesting perspectives.
-
Is anyone ever going to mention the 6-page(!) spread of the bat cave in issue 4? I feel like that is a pretty cool detail, worth noting. I don’t think something like that has been done in comics before or since. It never came up in Jim & Ed’s coverage either
-
I enjoyed it. It's a shame it was never completed. I'd love to see more Frank Miller comics/stories set in the DC Universe (i.e. another Dark Knight story, a sequel to Superman Year One and that WWII story he wanted to do, but still hasn't eventuated). He had a 5 book contract with DC some years ago but only 2 or 3 have been released, now he's busy with own publishing company ... whatever happened to that contract with DC?

Glad to hear an open minded take on this series. I personally can't really relate to the people that hate this series. The exposition of the inherent existential perversity of Batman molding Robin is just so long coming. The whole yellow room part is easily one of the best moments in post-2000 comics, to me. Looking forward to the rest of these videos.

Vicky Vale was made decades before the 89 movie, back in the 50s. She was a very minor character.
-
I remember Vicki Vale being in the Gene Colan run of Batman in the early 80's. Apparently, she's been around since the 50's, but Silver St. Cloud will always be my favorite Batman love interest.
-
Jesus Christ, there are too many ads in this book.
-
This is the one the broke Jim rugg . I’ve never heard him so Pissed. I appreciate your ability to see good in all things comics. Im not there but positivity is probably the best way to approach things
-
This is my thought. I think as a stand alone issue, this isn't the worst comic of all time. It's an an Okay-ish First issue. It starts to go downhill in issue 2. It's got problems that are very similar to a lot of Modern First Issues. Decompression of story over 12 months (or 6, whatever a trade paperback is) to try and make you buy the whole thing to judge if it's actually good or bad. Would it have been good if it was finished after all? Hard to say.
-
God, comic book ads in the mid-2000's sucked.

If Miller had drawn this series,I wouldn't have bought them, his modern art work is cringe for me. LOL.Bought this series strictly for Jim Lee's art.
