It's not that it's inexpensive; it's that every truck is now overpriced...

Base model reviews are exactly what the world needs right now. In all honesty, many of us just want a truck that does truck things and has the basics from the get go; comfort items are nice, but not a primary need. Good review!

I bought a 2019 Frontier SV King Cab 4x4 new for $28,000 and it's been a great daily driver. I expect it to last 10 years as my retirement truck. Completely reliable and very comfortable I couldn't be more content.

Now im probably going to regret this. But I like Nissan's Frontier for the simple reason. The V6. No turbo four. Thank God! Great review. Like the looks of this one. šŸ˜Šā¤

This is exactly what I want! Basic! Reliable! Affordable!
  • Nissan invented the ā€œking cabā€. Legendary. Sweet truck! Great for a work truck and/or base for an off-road build.

Great review, love that you did one on the base model, most reviewers shoot for the moon with the top models that most people either can't afford or don't want to get gouged on. Comparing it to the new Taco this Frontier has a number of advantages to it, the much better looking steelies, 2nd row seats and opening doors for emergency or little kid use, an infotainment screen that doesn't look like it's glued onto the top of the dash and will survive some abuse, struts to hold up the hood, and finally a real god-honest analog gauge set for the dash. Some things I see the Taco does better is the option to get steel coil springs in the rear for a better unloaded ride, lower maintenance electric power steering, and finally non-metallic bed so you don't need a liner. Since I haven't gotten a chance to drive either one I can't comment on the powertrains, brake feel, or suspension tuning but as soon as the dealers around me get some lower line models in their stock I will definitely check them out.
  • The best thing about the frontier is it is still mostly old school. Everything you need and very little of what you donā€™t.

My 2011 Ford Ranger with 135,000 miles on it still runs strong. 2.3 4 cylinder, automatic ect. All analog. ā¤

This is a great video. Excellent review. Exactly what I'm looking for, too bad that most dealers almost outright refuse to stock these. They stock only the top trim 4 door trucks and then put a $5,000 dollar markup on it. It is old school (which is a complement) in all the ways that makes it great.

What a great down to earth, unbiased, non-marketing review, awesome job!!!!

In 2019 you could still buy a Frontier with 4 cyl 2.7L, RWD with 5 speed manual transmission for $19000. Frankly it did the job as a worktruck as well as the new V6 model.

I bought a 2023 S model 4X4 with the king cab in August. I wanted a midsize with a 6' bed and I didn't want to pay the Toyota Tax, and nobody else offers this configuration. Your review is spot on. The lack of power adjustment for the mirrors is an inconvenience but no big deal. The back seats are for toddlers and double amputees but not everyone needs or wants the crew cab. It's short on the latest tech, but who cares? For what many people need a truck for, the base level Nissan is ideal. Solidly built with a strong and durable powertrain and a price that won't bankrupt you. That's what matters.
  • I looked at the new car company called Nissan ā€¦.frontier in 1987 in Daytona beach on spring break from New York $7600. I fell in love with it sat in the backā€¦. thought it was great..4 cylinder 5 speedā€¦ Cary 5 adults ā€¦cramped.. thought 7600. Ainā€™t badā€¦..bought the Isuzu pup. $5900. Drove it for 15 years 280kā€¦.orginal motor and clutch..

I bought a 2022 SV 4X4 Crew Cab last July for $36k. I'm very pleased with it. No BS and plenty of power and capability for the price. I've seen 0-60 times of 7.3 to 7.5 seconds listed for these, so 7.9 is on the slower side. It's not fast, but not slow for what it is. The 9-speed transmission keeps it in the power band when you need it.
  • I always wondered if anyone could actually fit in that rear seat. Appreciate you taking the time to demonstrate.
  • @usnr5950
I have a 22 in that configuration. Love it!!!!!

Great video, very in-depth and well edited. Thank you also for reviewing the basic trim, the ones most people can afford.

Kudos to Nissan for keeping 4 doors on the extended cab truck. I currently have a 2015 Tacoma and I use the rear doors almost every time I drive my truck. BUT, now Toyota has eliminated the rear doors and the jump seats in it's extended cab trucks (an obvious cost cutting measure) In doing so, Toyota Tacoma has been eliminated from my consideration for my next truck. And I don't care about power mirrors. I set my mirrors and forget about them. Rarely do I re-adjust my mirrors. The rear doors are MUCH more useful than power mirrors.
