U2 360 Tour: Enter M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, 6/22/2011

Published 2011-06-22
U2 takes the stage at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium to David Bowie's song Space Oddity and then launch into Even Better Than the Real Thing. I must admit, this show was much better than I imagined it was going to be.

A U2 concert is an almost transcendant experience...there's something much more going down than just a band playing songs and people enjoying the show. I highly recommend that anyone with even a minor affinity for U2 to go see them live while they're still around. Bands like this don't come along but once in a couple of generations and you'll come out of the concert buzzing from your insides out. Transcendant indeed.

Recorded on June 22nd, 2011 with an iPhone 4.

This brings all the memories back. I almost started sobbing while watching this. I miss it so much.

@1013TwilightRide1013 I hadn't seen U2 since 1992 on the Zoo Station tour and I didn't know what to expect this time around. I was stunned and happily surprised at how much U2 can still bring it.

@pangloss9 I cannot agree more. I was outside in line with my parents from 4:00 am until they let us in. All of my friends think I'm dumb, waiting in line is half of the fun. Getting to meet all the people, hear their stories; its fun. Sure, it drags on. But when they let you in and you get your dream spot for one of the greatest shows you'll ever see. Its worth every second.

I went to see U2 on 6/22/11, and I could not believe that I was actually there! There's a pretty funny story behind that night: So, my mom hadn't seen U2 since Joshua Tree, and we decided that since I was going to Ireland this summer, I might as well see the biggest band EVER from the area. So my dad bought our tickets, and finally the night arrived that we got to go. We hiked up the stairs to our seats-All the way up. We were in the top row of the entire stadium! (see the rest below)

@pangloss9 totally agreed. the philly show was amazing!! I am still buzzing from two days ago. I like this perspective. I've sat in different areas and this time I decided to try GA tickets and it was AMAZINg. We were three people back from outer ring, a new perspective. I loved it!

@MJferlife All in all, it was a great night, my best concert memory ever! <3

@hogwild6161 This was the 4th time I've seen U2 and the previous time was in 1992 on the Zoo Station tour. Back in '92, the concert was almost a transcendent experience. Much to my surprise, this show, in freaking 2011, was just about the same! Prepare to be amazed and thoroughly entertained.

@1013TwilightRide1013 No. When did you leave?! The final songs were- Ultraviolet (Light My Way), With or Without You, and Moment of Surrender.

@pangloss9 Cool!!! We're on the lower, about 20 rows up, I have seen hundreds of concerts, this one makes me feel like I'm going to my first!!!

@MJferlife We didn't know that our seats were that high, and my mom is deathly afraid of heights! She obviously couldn't stay up there, and she couldn't leave me, a 14 year old girl, there alone! So we went down to about half way up the stands and we watched the concert. Standing. My camera decided that it didn't want to work at all, and I accepted it because I was at a freaking U2 concert! And my mom never got pictures of her concert, so I figured it was okay.

@hogwild6161 They played to all directions at different times. Only Larry was stuck in more or less the same position for most of the concert. The screens are an extremely interesting and useful method of keeping up with events during the show as well. If you are in a lower level, you should have a pretty decent view of the action even from behind. Further up, not sure. Going to see U2 again in Philadelphia in July myself but this time we're going to be only 16 rows off the floor. Can't wait!
  • @pangloss9
@1013TwilightRide1013 Well you sure picked a good concert with which to start! BTW: My 10 year old son was with us last night and it was his first concert too.
  • @pangloss9
@1013TwilightRide1013 Don't think so...we left int he middle of the last encore because we had out ten year old son with us. Going to the Philly show without him in July and we'll stay to the very end.

I'm curious to know, did they boys play to the people behind them at all? Or was it all to the people in the front? Going to see them in Miami in 5 days, and my seats are sort of behind the stage. I'm just grateful to even HAVE seats!!!

lol@U2. While I respect what these guys have done for music and putting baltimore back on the map as a major concert city (we get passed up alot). I just CANNOT stand Bono. I really wish we had gotten pictures of all the semi trucks it took to haul his shit while he complains of global warming and all that jazz. Hope everyone who went had a good time though.
