Pneumonia vs. Pneumonitis | What Are The Differences??

Published 2022-09-14
Pneumonia vs pneumonitis - do you know the difference?

When I first started out as a medical SLP, I wasn’t even familiar with the word pneumonitis.

All I had ever learned about was aspiration pneumonia.

In today’s episode, I’m going to go over what each condition is, how they’re different from each other, and what our roles are as SLPs when it comes to pneumonia and pneumonitis.

Watch and Enjoy!

  • I’m halfway through and you haven’t mentioned farmer’s lung. I searched to find the difference between farmer’s lung x-rays and farmer’s lung. Farmer’s lung was described in some articles as pneumonitis. I’m afraid I’ve been misdiagnosed because the antibiotics aren’t working. I don’t want to sound like an idiot because I was diagnosed partly on x-rays. My interest is to learn if the x-ray looks the same before contacting my primary care.
