The Nagaoka Fireworks are held over two nights from August 2 to 3rd along the banks of the Shinano River. Though the Nagaoka fireworks Festival started since 1879, it became the fireworks display for a memorial service, revival after difficulty such as Nagaoka air raid and the Chuetsu earthquake.
Especially ,Fireworks named Phoenix is a symbol of recovery after the 2004 Niigata Earthquake. The show's finale covers nearly two kilometers of the riverbank and is the widest span of fireworks in the world.

The passfire delays and multi-break, ghost shells are spectacular. Hard to believe this was cutting edge 4 years ago.

Stunning, I would imaging it being much more so in person. And to think they do this every year. It puts my hometowns' 4th-of-July and New Year displays to shame.
  • their colors seem more powerfull and last double the time than normal pro fireworks. one shell at a time, or just a few so the appreciation of every single shell...beautiful
