Battlefront 2 is often more remembered because of its Heroes mode, Space battles and Episode 3 maps, but Battlefront 1 was where it all got started. Battlefront 1 is pretty simple when you look at it, but that simplicity made it fun. You weren't one of the big name heroes, but just a regular rank and file soldier on the ground. Other than the Droidekas being unbalanced and the Starfighter maps being too small for dogfighting, I still hold good memories about this game. To be fair, I played the hell out of Bespin platforms and the Dune Sea with my friend and his brother over a LAN connection. Good times for sure.
  • today they just announced that they are re-releasing battlefront 1 and 2 in a compilation with 64 player multiplayer cross platform play. Its a great day to be a star wars fan

Who’s watching this after they made a collection edition?

I cannot emphasize how amazingly good the original SW battlefront 1 and 2 was and it still holds up to this day. I still do a galactic conquest from time to time it's just that good.

I remember the Bespin platform level being one of the levels where Jedi and Sith hero’s could be “killed”. The ai with the players help would just start pelting them with grenades until one of the explosions sends them flying off the platform. Granted they respawn a few seconds later but it was always fun on single player to be like “here’s what I think of your immortality!”

I absolutely LOVED the Bespin clouds level on this game. Those corridors were chaos and so much fun, so much slaughter. It's my favourite level in all of the battlefront games for that.

Switching from 1st person to 3rd person instantly with a press of a button will always be my favourite. It also had cockpit view for vehicles which the second game sadly lacked on console
  • Man this makes me feel old. You can only imagine how many hours I poured into this game. First on ps2 then on PC. I have so many fond memories playing this game both by myself and with friends and family.

I personally prefered SWBF1 over SWBF2. I know most people loved the crazy power trip SWBF2 gave you, but something about the original where you're just a nameless soldier and not some special supersoldier just resonated with me better. Plus the immensely powerful and almost unkillable jedis/sith were so terrifying

"Ah, Lord Vader, lead the way. And of course he goes straight to the pub." Bro I spat out my coffee

Here's a cool little thing most people didn't know but if you used the Clone pilot with his shock rifle you could actually kill the Sith because it has a slight aoe damage to it, I have killed Count Dooku with the clone pilot and it felt like a tremendous achievement.

This game such a gem for me as a kid. One of the few games my old man and I would play. We don't really play anymore since our interests in games have diverged quite a lot and he's busier than he used to be. I still have extremely fond memories of this and the sequel though.

Wow Great timing, they just announced an OG Battlefront Collection for consoles

That is my favourite Battlefront game!!! Maps are even better than in the others!!! The only concern I have is the super battle droid replacing the regular droid class

This year is also 20 Years since Star Wars was first released on DVD.
  • My favourite memory of this game is the Rhen Var level with the clones. It was always this tight game where the droidekas would bottleneck and blast through the tunnels and my friends and I had to take the vehicles and try to clear the command posts on the other side before the tunnels were overrun. I do remember the balancing feeling off in the first one. The droidekas were OP once they got shields up, but it was fun to have to play around that.

The Loading Screen alone is enough to induct this game into the museum of history.
