That series should be mandatory for High Schoil kids.

My brother is married to a Russian woman. Their family barely survived the holodomor, caused by Stalin. They then suffered until they got taken by Germans. They worked in the VW factory and came to Australia in the 60s after going back to Russia for 12 years. They always warned me of the truth of communism. They always said that if things on paper worked the world would be a better place, but it doesn’t. People get greedy and take everything from the people. Some people suggest that Cuba is a successful communist nation. Their newest cars are from the 50s and the average wage is $200 USD (per month I believe). They have ‘free healthcare’ which has no medicine so they just give you a pat on the back and say ‘you’ll be right’ and usher you out the door. Communism. Doesn’t. Work.
  • Bill Whittle's The Cold War what we saw was single handedly the best docuseries for podcast I have ever listened to. Dude is incredible.
  • It's not because there are no pictures of the gulags, it's because we have Socialist college professors and not [National Socialist Workers Party] professors in our schools. The people in charge of teaching our population are the ones who get to decide what is learned.

I am Bill Whittle’s #1 fan. Thank you forever for the Cold series. ❤❤❤

I read the Aleksander Solzhenitsyn’ record of the Soviet holocaust in the 1970’s and have been bothered ever since that the Nazi Holocaust has been so well documented while what the Soviet communists did for 70 years has been ignored. The semi-biographical novel, “The First Circle” by Solzhenitsyn, is one of the greatest novels I have ever read. The protagonist, Lev, at the end went from the first circle of Soviet hell and descended into the lower circles of work camps because he wouldn’t deny his personal principles.

They are underselling the What We Saw series. Some of the best documentaries I've ever seen, and I love documentaries!

He should talk to Tucker Carlson. About the A-bomb. Not only was Japan not going to surrender, but the A-bomb also served as a warning to the Soviets, who Truman knew damn well were evil bastards, and a massive threat.

Remember also that when the Communist revolution was taking place and the Soviet Union was being established,There were many in the west who covered up much Of the atrocities, as well as wrote articles books And reports that were favorable towards Lenin and Stalin and communism. That is one reason why there is little documentary evidence outside of the soviet sphere.

Loved all three of the series. The latest one is haunting me.
  • Just watched this series, the depths of cruelty and destruction is mind blowing. It should be in every school, university curriculum throughout the western world.

Bill's series alone are enough to merit subscribing to the DW. Thanks.

"We called this chapter 'The Law Today.' It should rightly be called 'There Is No Law.' The same treacherous secrecy, the same fog of injustice, still hangs in our air, worse than the smoke of city chimneys. For half a century and more, the enormous state has towered over us, girded with hoops of steel. The hoops are still there. There is no law." - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago.
