Hurricane Beryl continues to break records and forecasts and became a powerful 165mph Category 5 storm overnight. Further strengthening is still possible before weakening begins later today, and hurricane conditions are expected to reach Jamaica by early Wednesday morning. It is likely that Beryl will swipe Jamaica as a major Category 3 hurricane, and hold that intensity through the Caymand islands and into the Yucatan Peninsula early on Friday. Beryl may become a hurricane again in the Gulf of Mexico before hitting northeast Mexico or Texas on Sunday or Monday.

    Absolutely insane. I went through hurricane Mitch, Halloween 1998. It was incredible how horrible it was. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this monster. Beryl the peril.
