  • Iโ€™ve recently started utilising the wonderful power of these seeds. A tea spoon of dried seeds into my kefir and frozen fruit smoothie each morning has given me a wakefulness with even only a few hours sleep to get through my shifts at work without using caffeine which is only a placebo that tires my neurospicy brain lol

These are the things they should be teaching children in school without getting to political!!
  • I've suffered from hay fever for years And the thing I've found is that nettle tea is the best thing to help me through the day. I pick them fresh with some mint leaves. Brew them up in a pan. And drink it throughout the day. Sometimes add some raw honey. The young leaves at the top are best.

Stinging nettle seeds are great for poultry, my turkeys go out of their way to eat them and my chickens eat the bits the turkeys drop because they aren't tall enough to pick their own. I cook with nettles a lot so will share a recipe that I call Bubble and Sting. It is like Bubble and Squeak but with steamed nettles replacing the cabbage, when mixed with left over mashed spuds and then fried it is absolutely heavenly. I live in Bulgaria and all parts of the nettle are used for food and medicine, there is a great herbal medicine tradition here and if you go to see your GP you are just as likely to be prescribed herbal medicine as big pharma stuff. At the moment I am gathering artemesia, we are going to add it to our apricot rakia (demon, home made spirit) for a new take on absinthe.

Perhaps an important sidenote: Nettle is a powerfull agent to bind heavy metals in her being from the soil, it is because of the magnesium ions in her abundant chlorofyl. Advisable not to collect around heavy industry, busy roads or otherwise poluted grounds.. This also means, when the magnesium ions are vacant, they are able to withdraw heavy metals from out bodies and thus a strong detoxifier.
  • This is fantastic information. I have been using the leaves for several years but did not know what a nutritional dynamo the seeds are. I will definitely harvest seeds this year and will let the small Nettle patch at the edge of my property expand. I will also add your your book to the Foraging section of my home library.
  • @GlitzyWitch

Great videos, extremely educational. I grew up in Germany with a lot of stinging nettles. Fortunately, my mom taught that stinging nettles are NOT a weed but a healthy medicinal plant. But you've taken it a step further with your info. Thank you so much!
