Growing up, we never really had a mounting blocks available, so ground mounting was most often the only option.  My horse was 17hh.  I was VERY good at ground mounting! Plus, this was many years ago, before anyone thought about the health benefits to the horse, so only lazy people used mounting blocks.

I was taught to ground mount as a kid but that was only on ponies. First two riding schools I went to had us kids mounting from the ground. It was my third riding school when I went as a teenager, I started mounting from a block as I started riding bigger horses.
  • I loved this video. It's amazing how smart and loving a horse is! When people say riding is easy, I wonder if they've ever ridden and if they did, was it just an anybody can ride horse? Also question what they think riding is? I can't stand people who think horses are dumb because horses can be trained! I know how smart and loving they are!
  • Ground mounting: Should only be done in emergency when a block isn't available
