Wow, this is incredible! Thanks EWU, you never let down. 💕 Fun fact, I grew up in Stead, Nevada. Right outside of Reno Nevada. Virginia City is absolutely amazing. It's a ghost town.

It seems like it was run like a “toll bridge” Funny how the press hasn’t changed all these years later. Thank you for sharing this interesting history 🇺🇸
  • Its great to see that the tunnel has not been forgotten. I was there in the 80's and we spent two days working our way along the rock falls. We estimated that we were less than a thousand feet from the other end. But it was a tough two days just getting enough room to squeeze through and only to find another collapse just ahead. It would be great to go back and walk through the portal this time. It was six hours of digging just to get inside. And what you saw in the video was the entirety of the tunnel. Not a spot where you didnt have debris under foot. Im definitely going to return and vist the tunnel. Thanks EWU crew!

Really, very interesting! I enjoy our "sinist " history . You should have your team do a deep dive in the Rockefellers. Really graceful has some good input but id live to hear yalls views. Thanks❤

A story worth telling, and you covered it pretty well! Sutro a hero of mine. Just a tidbit: the experts said the air would flow down from his breach into the mines: Sutro (you mildly dissed his "engineering" credentials) predicted, no, when I break thru, the air will rush up! My dad taught California history, and I was raised with a sense of the Tunnel as "Sutro's Folly." The most terrible thing is, he brought back to San Francisco from Europe whole bookstores of ancient books and manuscripts, but he didn't want them stored at the coast risking damp. Burned in the fire of 1906.
  • I love this! I was aching for more EWU content after binging most the good crime docs. Keep it up! I will consume it all!
  • Thankyou for this history lesson re The Sutro Tunnel in Dayton, NV. I see that the new building of the inside is really improved. But will require millions$ to complete & Mansion, etc.

Sutro mansion reminds me of the Bates mansion above the Bates motel in the movie psycho😂 Interesting if you look up sutros children, his son, grandson lived in haunted mansions in san Fransisco

I can see the possibility of a wonderful TV series being made about 1850's-to-1870's Virginia City / Comstock Lode, Nevada Territory that could be as popular as the incredible DEADWOOD TV series about the 1874 Black Hills gold rush to Dakota Territory.
