PERFECT Timing! Right when I'm looking for smart lock and this video released! SWEET!
  • Love the encode plus, we use it for the garage door and front door. The camelot bronze matches well with our brown front door and century brushed nickel fits the garage setting nicely. My favorite part is that it meshes well with everything from our ring security to Siri voice commands for homekit.

I live in an area that sees -40 in winters and that Schlage Connect works like a charm.

Hi Reed, long time follower first time commenter Another aspect that I think was not touched on is the auto lock features. I love the auto locking of the door when I swing the door shut on our Aqara U100 with itā€™s door close detection. Itā€™s not something I thought I needed but would miss it now if the feature was to be taken from me, itā€™s that convenient. Walking in with bags in hands and gently kicking the door shut and it locks for you is priceless. Automate everything!

I would love to see an updated video of "Ultimate Guide to Starting and Growing a Smart Home" I just watched it and its so good and I would love to see like an updated list or something. Loving the content.

I have the assure 2 lock and I LOVE it. I ended up getting the Wi-Fi bridge for around $70 on Amazon. I love how quiet it is. I had the august smart lock initially and itā€™s so noisy itā€™s unbelievable!

Thanks for this review, Reed. I've had both the Schlage Encode and the U-Tec Ultraloq. The Schlage has never failed me. Easy to use and set up. I really have no need for remote unlocking as I don't give access to my house without me or family being there. This time i wanted a lock with a fingerprint sensor and purchased the Ultraloq and the hub bcuz the lock couldn't connect to my wifi without it. The fingerprint sensor has failed me and my family many times and now its finally not working. We just use PINs now. Notifications also work sometimes but unreliable. Going back to Schlage and never looking at U-Tec again.

I definitely need something with a physical key and we have Ring, so I think you've reinforced my desired to stick with Schlage. We've had their locks since we moved in.

Hi Reed, great videos. The only aspect I feel you left out was if the locks can auto open with bluetooth. This is the killer feature for me of the August Smart Lock. I love coming home with groceries and the door just magically opens, no need to touch keys. I do agree with you that the keypad is not good.

Thanks! I saw the specs for my Schlage Encode you listed. Realize now HA 2023.9.0 has a native Schlage integration. It works, but unfortunately the cloud is slow. Was not able to add it to Homekit Controller in HA like I did my Ecobee for local control.

I have my 2 Aqara U100ā€™s added to Home Assistant through Matter, and theyā€™ve been solid! Glad I got two on lockdown ;)
  • @andychrest8876
I recently installed the Yale assure 2 without an additional module and just used the included Bluetooth to connect to my home assistant using the Yale Connect integration.

Schlage Zwave!!!! I've used the locks since ST version1 hub. Now they have Schlage Zwave Plus. Thankyou Reed for this video.
  • @embazle
The whole pun thing was hilarious, I loved it. Great video, Iā€™m convinced the Schlage encode is best for me.
  • @Joelo26
I went with the Lockly. It has been pretty good so far. We haven't had issues with the finger print reader yet. Let's see what happens when winter gets here.

very entertaining and informative, Thank you . One I was surprised not to see was the Level lock. I use those as I did not wish to change my exterior lockset. I get all the smart options and no one knows that it is a smart lock. I am able to share codes with family through the app so access is easy.
