Neighbors said they ran to try to help but there was little that could be done to save a woman who was carjacked and dragged to her death Monday afternoon in a New Orleans neighborhood.

Monday afternoon, Austin Northcott knew something was wrong in his Mid-City neighborhood.

“I heard screaming, like you’re about to die sort of scream,” said Northcott. “Just not a normal scream.”

Those screams were from 73-year-old Linda Frickey, who police say was carjacked and dragged to death by her own SUV. Witnesses say it happened when a vehicle pulled up next to her parked SUV in the 300 block of N. Scott Street.

“It’s just heartbreaking to see that,” said Northcott.

Witnesses say Frickey was caught in her seatbelt and dragged as her SUV sped off on Bienville Avenue, steps away from Mark and Leanne Mascar’s front door.

Her name was Linda Frickey. She was a mother, a sister, a grandmother. She was an active, vibrant woman, still working, and living a full life. RIP to this innocent woman and may justice be swift.

UPDATE: They found and convicted the teenage monster who murdered her. He was handed a life sentence on January 12th.

To do that to another human, an innocent elderly woman, for a piece of property is pure evil.

Just an update: the suspects parents turned them in! They have been arrested and charged with second degree murder. This is inexcusable and they all need to be off the streets for the rest of their life. It makes me sick that the good people must live in a world with terrible people like this who have no regard for human life. RIP to this sweet lady and let’s hope justice is served.

Make it to 73 years old and then die like this. Absolutely heartbreaking. People are so evil.

The teen driver John Honore (ironic last name) was sentenced last month in January to LIFE in Prison, with Parole at 25 Years due to the crimes being committed as a minor. The Death Penalty was pursued but the state abolished the execution of minors in 2005. This is unfortunately the highest sentence possible under the law. We honestly need to review our perspective on going easy on teenagers. It's not reasonable to send the message that murder is okay if you're under 18.

Calling 9-1-1 4 minutes with nobody answering, took an ambulance 15 mins to get to the scene. Speechless.

She wasn't just killed she was tortured, and obviously, the people that saw it happen have PTSD.

Update on their case. The suspects are 4 teenagers age 15-17, all of them are to be charged as adults. Their bond stands at $1M each, and the defense attorney even tried to lower the bond to $50K but it was rejected. These kids show no remorse since all of them pleaded not guilty, which for me is a good thing since they will be getting the maximum sentence if they lose the case

John Honore, 18, sentenced to life in prison. Briniyah Baker, 17, Lenyra Theophile, 16, and Mar'Qel Curtis, 16, who were each indicted with second-degree murder along with Honore, pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter for their roles in the fatal carjacking. They were sentenced without delay to 20 years in prison.

That poor neighbour is traumatised .What a horrendous thing to witness . As for the grandmother who died , her terror must have been so horrific in her last moments . My heartfelt love and condolences go out to all who loved her . 🤍

Better start naming teens and forget protecting them because they are committing adult crimes. Makes me furious

"Her arm detached" is a real nice way of saying it got ripped off her friggin body. That's horrifying and the people responsible should be put up against the wall.
  • @rubert134
How does it take over 4 minutes for someone to answer a 911 call?
  • @CHARIOTangler
God forbid you provide the public with a verbal description of the suspects.
  • @jordansavas5924
they stole her car and LIFE for NOTHING! they drove 15 blocks away and ditched it! That poor lady.
  • @jc478
Absolutely heartbreaking to hear that this was done to this woman. You live for 73 years, during wars and even years of a pandemic, to have these selfish teens drag you till your arm is ripped from your body. I am crying and I am so angry.

A stricken widower is suing the parents of four teenagers who dismembered his 73-year-old wife by viciously dragging her along behind her own SUV during a fatal carjacking. Rickey Frickey launched the lawsuit to hold the parents 'responsible', his attorney said, holding them partly to blame for his late wife Linda's March 2022 death in a newly filed suit, seeking at least $50,000 in damages. After the final perpetrator, John Honore, 18, was convicted of murder this week, Linda's grieving husband is suing Honore's parents and those of three others involved.

If you need an ambulance you better call 30 minutes before you need them
