reminds me of that part in jan Misali's "hangman is a weird game" where the executioner could edit the word and absurdle but here there's an opponent instead of a bot with the guesser's worst interests at heart

My favorite Wordle variation is Letterle. 1 letter, 26 guesses.

Can you edit your word to your opponent's last guess ? That could trip them up i imagine (in your exemple you'd change frown to flown). Also this game mode sounds really fun

In your explanation, you say you can't know how many edits the opponent uses, but it's extremely obvious if you just look at their number of stockpiled edits.

I learned about the existence of the Artemis missions yesterday... not because Artemis I is soon. Actually, it's because I was researching a flower species with the name "ambrosia artemisiifolia" and thought that someone might've named it after something called "Artemis II."

During watching the 1v1, I thought of how the game would've ended up if, after changing "FRUMP" to "CRUMP", on the very next guess, you immediately change it back to "FRUMP" again. If your opponent doesn't give too much thought to a used edit that didn't seem to do anything, they might end up spending a lot of guesses trying to figure out the first letter without using "F" again since that letter used to be correct but was edited to not be correct anymore. It's almost like a "so bad it's good" kind of move where you wouldn't think to have any incentive to use an edit just to revert your previous edit, but then if your opponent ALSO assumes that, it's actually a GOOD move to make because you don't WANT your opponent to be thinking what you're thinking... the potential for mindgames is interesting here, the game changes a lot depending on who your opponent is.

Does editing the word reset whether a green tile is "new"? For example, if the word I'm guessing is "blank" and I guess "blown" (earning an edit), the word gets changed to "shank" and I guess "ships", would I gain another edit or not?
