Making it Matter cystic fibrosis podcast Episode 7 - How to stay busy when you're sick

Published 2016-09-15
I've been a bit under the weather for the past week, so Julia and I decided to podcast about what we do to stay busy when we are sick. Julia and I have very different coping strategies - I'm all about the video games, she's more of a reader.. Let us know what you do when you're dealing with the tough CF days.

Hi Gunnar and Julia, I love your podcast!! I just found it and will continue to watch! I am 46 yrs.old and have CF. When I was 24 I was evaluated for a double lung transplant at Stanford University. I did receive a transplant in '95 so I've had it for almost 21 years! 5 years after the lungs, I had to go on dialysis for 4 years and then was lucky enough to get a kidney transplant as well. It's so funny that you talked about learning a language while you're sick... I got a book and CD of Italian and did learn some of it. When I'm sick I usually don't feel like doing anything because I too, can't seem to focus or make my brain engage! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!!!! :D It's somewhat funny that doctors say to get your rest, but the hospital is the worse place in the world to do that in. Once I was in for a bowel obstruction and had a tube down my nose into my stomach. So one thing I did was make a list of all the foods I wanted when I got that stupid tube out. My list was filled with mostly fruits and cool things. It was funny to look back at it and think I really should eat more fruit since I crave it so much when I'm starving!!! Anyway, keep bringing us more podcasts to enjoy. Gunnar, I hope you are feeling better since this was recorded. Thanks to you both. :)
