Amazing guide, The reels you mentioned are great for their price!

I am actually about to post a video covering this topic and it’s funny how different our lists are. I see that as a good thing because it means that more companies are putting out quality budget products.
  • Real story: I (14) saw this video and liked the Acuma ceymar so I began to save up for it and when I showed my dad this video and he said that he found a fishing rod in a lake a week back and and I should check if it’s any good first. It was that EXACT reel and it was still in brand new condition. So now I’m rocking it on my ugly stick v2. 👍
  • I have a Daiwa revros LT and have had it for 10 years and love it, also have the fierce and love it great choices

I love my Daiwa regal 2000. It handles 6-8lb wipers with no problem and I do love Daiwas drag system. Just thinking of the sound of drag peeling makes me wanna grab a pole and get out on the water
  • @ricker76er
I have 3 of these reels. I agree with this list wholeheartedly.

I found a Shimano Sedona 2000 for $38 because it was last item in my local outdoors store. Looks like a great little reel. Needless to say I bought it on the spot.

I swear by phleuger, They are reel masters, I actually bought one during a sale at the fairgrounds and it's in great shape, While my current reel on my main rod is a bass pro elite I am planning on changing my bait reel to the phleuger! Great video, keep slaying them!

Just scored the Daiwa Procyon AL 3000D brand new in box. Never even had line on it for $70 @ a flea market, opened up the reel and like all Daiwas needed a lil oil and grease and it’s just soooooo smooth! And that ATD drag just sounds sooo good and smooth as butter!

Ive got a fierce 3 4000 i use for catfish and reds. I also have an 8000 ive used for black tips and i can say both have been amazing so far. A little on the heavy side but they can handle just about amything.

My go-to spinning reels are the Daiwa Legalis and the Shimano Sedona.

This seems more freshwater oriented but I bought a couple Daiwa Legalis LT 5000's for $65 as backups or guests on the boat reels. I'm purely saltwater and its done well for a full season. Just opened it to service for this fall and it was spotless. Caught everything from redfish, fluke, striped bass, spanish mackerel, tautog, sheepshead, etc. on it. Buddy of mine landed a 16lb tautog last fall on it which, if you know tautog, is about as hard a fighting fish as possible. The 5000 size is small for a 5000 but 26lbs of drag and holds 200+ yards of 30lb braid.

I don't mind the okumas but I've had more wind knots with them then any other reel Ive fished with, usually fishing with drop shots and weightless Texas rigs so I guess I'm asking for it.
  • I have a Pfluger President my dad gave me and it's a nice little reel. I also have a couple Diawa Revros in 2000 and 3000 sizes, and can't say anything bad about them. They're light and smooth. I also use a Penn Fierce 2000, 4000 and a 6000 with the bait runner switch and they're awesome for the money. I have another Pfluger too but don't remember the name. I haven't used the Pflugers in the saltwater yet but the others are used all the time in the Chesapeake Bay. I only moved here about 3 months ago and so the Diawas haven't been really tested yet, but I've been using the 3000 almost exclusively for the last 2 weeks. I got a 7 foot medium action fast tip Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore that's all graphite and the pair are a great lightweight sensitive combo that I can use Texas rigged soft plastics with. It's important to have the right rod, I was using GX2'S and missing a lot of bites, getting less bites, and they're heavier. The GX2's are fine for live bait and some lures but they suck for flounder jigging in my opinion. Ever since I got that combo I've been just using it until I can get a couple more sensitive rods. Ask me in 6 months or a year and I'll tell you how the Revros hold up. I got dragged across a grass flat in my kayak by a bigass stingray for about 15 minutes until I saw what it was for sure and got tired of it. Unhooking a foul hooked big ray in a kayak alone is a dumb plan so I grabbed the spool and snapped my 10 lb braid. But that Ugly Stik and Diawa dealt with something way heavier than they're intended for, zero issues. If I recommend any reel it's always Penn and probably always will be for people who want durable stuff. I usually buy them. My Diawas came from my dad and a guy who wanted to sell one at a pier. Otherwise they'd be Fierce's.

Also, of your list, the PFlueger is my favorite reel. I am not a huge Shimano fan. I have researched them quite a bite and found that under a $100 Shimano reels are basically the same reel from the $20 FX all the way up to the $90 Sahara. All Shimano does is give you 1-2 more bearings and a rubber knob. Everything else is the same. That’s why I use the FX over the Sedona.

Daiwa Fuego LT can be found easily under $100 and is a superior reel than the Exceler. Look out for the new 2023 models of Daiwa LT since you love em so much lol.
