  • I saw the GTA thumbnail and instantly remembered playing San Andreas with a permanent sandstorm, riots everywhere, everyone roaming with weapons, and cars flying off into the stratosphere
  • I’m surprised having a Game Shark and using it to put Sephiroth in your party in Final Fantasy VII wasn’t on this list.

I wish devs would add cheat codes again. I’d take just Big Head Mode at this point. GTAV does it perfectly: if you cheat, you don’t get to save or unlock achievements. That simple change means you can indulge in all the chaos you like without ruining your game. Imagine today’s stunningly realistic graphics combined with ridiculous, wacky cheat codes that result in a beautifully uncanny mess.

Love GTA 3 and the cheats in it. The "all pedestrians have weapons" and "pedestrians attack everyone" are some favourites

GTA codes post 3 were weird. You could save your game after using codes in 3, but in Vice City & San Andreas they corrupted your save file. At least on my PS2 versions they did.

I feel like cheat codes went away because game designers priorities changed. Games use to be designed to be as hard as possible and not be beaten, therefore cheat codes helped you progress. Current games are designed to be beaten and devs want you to see all their hard work, therefore games aren’t as challenging and don’t need cheat codes anymore. That’s my TED talk for the week, thank you for coming.
  • I remember getting an Action Replay in middle school and there was a cheat for Pokemon Diamond where you could pass through any wall or obstacle by holding B and running into it. I was near Snowpoint City when I decided to run through the treeline and started running around chaotically in the sea of densely-packed trees. Soon I realized I couldn’t remember which direction the town or roads were. I gave up, but not before instinctively saving my game. I had to restart my entire game because I literally got lost in the woods.

Like this comment if you remember Game Shark 🎮 🦈
  • Riot mode even completely makes saving Mad Dog in San Andreas completely impossible as he will always walk off the ledge during the cutscene.
  • I accidentally saved riot mode on my gta 3 file way back then. My dad and I had to spend a while to get back to where we were. Oops 😅

"The relatively leisurely sport of soccer" – are you nuts? 😂
  • Maximum Overdrive was based on the Steven King Novela called Trucks. Myself, i thought the evil cars were more like the car in the movie Christine. Based on the book, Christine, written by Steven King.

In GTA San Andreas, the mission where you save Madd Dogg, using too much cheats, will cause him to fall and the mission fails automatically. I know this is true, because I seen it with my own eyes.

Riot mode in GTA 3 was so funny, especially if you combined it with every one is armed. XD Such a slaughter fest. XD
  • @Thelodis
Playing as Master Hand in Super Smash Bros Melee is messy not only because the controller port 3 trick is hard to do, but after that you need to find a stage that doesn't crash. And if you find one, not only can't you lose because you can't get knocked out (I haven't tried an HP game so I don't know about that), you also can't win because the game will crash before the win screen.

I loved activating riot mode in GTA and trying to do taxi runs. It's absolutely hilarious!
  • @Canrugger
The game genie code for super mario bros where every jump made you float higher and higher
  • @MrGuanYu1
That Maximum Overdrive shout out though. One of the weirder movies but memorable.
