The sorbet didn't have ghost essence in it, it's just been chilled from coming in contact with the ghosts.

I wanna eat the gems I wanna eat the gems I wanna eat the gems I wanna-
  • Fish men aren't demi humans like mermaids, they lay eggs and turn into fry as they grow, they just look humanoid. ← I sound like Laois.
  • Finally, someone who gets that the treasure bug snacks were really interesting not repulsive

Two points regarding the parasitic worm: - The reason why Laios got the parasite is because he ate it raw, which is the last thing anyone can do with harvested meat. No one touched it until it was actually cooked, which is the best way to eradicate any parasitic larvae that might still be in the meat. - The taste would probably be like eel, since the cooking method is based on Unagi, which is a dish of grilled eel covered and broiled in tare sauce.

I want to eat the treasure bugs so incredibly bad it almost hurts

Dragon steak would probably taste bad, especially considering the way it was killed and how mature it was…thats some really tough, gamey, stress hormone filled meat right there. :/ It may be very nutritious though, and it’s enough meat to feed a whole town for months. It would probably be really good in a pot roast!

I have to disagree with a lot of your assessments, first of all, mandrake appears to be similar to gobō/edible burdock, which means that the vegetable kakiage would be more akin to diner style hashbrowns with other vegetables mixed in. Secondly, the living armour would be more similar to mussels or oysters than calamari. Thirdly, as some other people have pointed out, the sorbet was just chilled by the ghost and didnt include any ghost essence. Lastly, while I do agree with your assessment on the parasitic worm, I'm surprised you didn't mention how it's supposed to be similar to Japanese grilled eel/kabayaki, since that would make its real world counterpart much more appealing.

i would argue with the assertion that mimic isn’t filling. visually it resembles hermit crab and crab is straight up mostly protein. that stuff fills you up Fast, three to four crab legs would probably be enough even if you spent a lot of energy, and those mimic legs look Huge

Cant wait to see people making their own versions of these meals! I saw one person make a look-alike of the sorbet with gem candies and it looked soooo mouth-watering.

Since the jewel bug crown was a hive full of eggs that needed to be scooped out, I think you can actually get the same taste and texture from honeycomb! This explains why the jewel bugs were part of the sorbet making process - jewel bug hives are sweet!

That parasite meat basically is eel meat irl, it soft, meaty and kinda fatty, Japanese grilled eel tastes very yummy

I feel like with the Undine stew with tentacles, the tentacles would have cooked down, creating a whole different flavor profile than if it was eaten raw. Sorta like if you cook garlic, it enhances the flavor of garlic but dies down the bitter taste to it compared to haven eaten it raw.

Apparently frog legs do actually taste a lot like chicken. Never had it myself so I can't confirm, but they're fairly common in the swampy bits of the southern US. (have had gator though, which does taste a lot like chicken! Just ever so slightly fishy with the texture of very dark meat chicken)
  • @Gooong
The parasitic worms look like eel meat are cooked like how the Japanese prepare eel (unagi). A fantasy version of unagi without the bones is worth any danger.
  • @Akeche
16:55 To be fair, he didn't make a SMALL mistake... He ate it raw!
  • @whimsiclaw
I can imagine the treasure bugs taste a lot like crawdads and the creamy parts would have the texture of lobster roe. They'd probably taste really good steamed or boiled and with some butter.
