    MatPat: quits Diet Coke
the Coca Cola company: "I feel a great disturbance in the force"
  • @KthuLew
Plot twist: as MatPat was filming this, Coca-Cola was FINALLY editing up the draft for their sponsorship.
  • Idk why I love this episode so much. Most of the time popular YouTube don't feel so genuine but Mat and Steph just feel like that's really them.

08:35 The moment they said No.2 tasted like cough syrup, I knew it was the glass bottle coke.
Coke was originally created as a form of medicine back in the days, and thus, it wouldn't taste very good - unless you happen to be one of the ones that like that sort of thing.
They said earlier that the glass bottle coke creator hadn't changed their recipe since they started 100 years ago, that means it would still taste more like some kind of medicine than actual soda.
  • MatPat: “I hate it, I hate it with a passion”
takes a sip 2 seconds later

Harris Teeter instantly gives Food Theory a sponsor, makes a TON of money, and Coke finally realizes the missed opportunity of not doing it sooner

Late to the party here, but at the start of this video my 1st thought was "I wonder if they'll take co-packing into account" and there, at the end, they did. It would be interesting if they compared processing/packaging. I live in Maine, where B&M Baked Beans ruled until the brand was bought out. Now the product is a pale shadow of what it was (runnier, slightly undercooked, sweeter). Anyone in the know knows to look for the few remaining cans made in Maine and to avoid those from NJ.
  • Matpat: *quits drinking Diet Coke *
“That’s another one for apocalypse bingo!”
  • "We at food theorists do not support mass consumption of diet coke despite matt's inexplicable ability to drink gallons on an hourly basis "
  • @Nick-Nasty
I was so expecting this to be more about getting away from the artificial sweeteners, not just maybe finding a better tasting diet soda lol
  • @Raisedinmisery
I absolutely loved this video, it honestly reminded me of my brother and how much he loved Diet Coke. So I wanted to say thanks for giving me something to smile about today 💚
  • Diet Coke never sponsored MatPat for any of his channels and now they've lost their chance. He's left diet coke behind for a better cola
  • @Merchantic
Just realized that Theories are never going to have Diet Coke MatPat addiction memes anymore.... Rest in Peace
  • And here I am in 2024 where Matpat hasn't even mentioned Harris Teeter's cola since
  • @jasminehouze
My family has always gotten store branded sodas because they were normally cheaper, we’re on sale more often, and tasted the same or even better sometimes.
  • @SebastianAriza
The classic "I'm an unknown newbie who ends up winning the tournament" trope
  • @colleen6336
    WOHOOOOOO!!! NORTH CAROLINA!!!
So that's why in the TikTok McFlurry thing he said about Cookout being a home chain and I recognized it :))
  • @AaronRossman
I'm so glad I'm not the only diet cola lover that KNOWS that can/plastic/fountain all taste distinctly different. Never plastic, ever. 🤮
