RECIPE: preppykitchen.com/coconut-cream-pie/

Coconut is one of my ALL TIME favorite flavors but so many coconut cream pies have preservatives, artificial coconut extract or sad, soft pie crusts you have to eat around. All of these things have no place in a good recipe so you better bet this pie is amazing with lots of natural coconut flavor, a CRISP butter crust and mounds of fresh whipped cream topped with toasted coconut. #ad #Colliders #LoveItSpoonIt

Hi Friends! Oops, the eggs got accidentally cut from the video! At 9:45 Drizzle in about a cup of the hot milk mixture to the eggs while whisking. This will temper the egg mixture and prevent a lumpy scrambled egg constancy. Then whisk in the tempered eggs into the hot milk and return to medium heat and cook while stirring for about two minutes. then add the butter like the video show and continue! Happy baking!
  • This is my childhood favorite pie. My grandmother always had one tucked away for me on holidays. This year I decided to tackle making it myself using this recipe. It came out absolutely perfect. I was able to deliver a slice to my 94 year old grandma. Meant so much.
  • John. I have been a baker/ at home baker for awhile. I recently started a job a bit out of my league at a fine dining restaurant. Well, unfortunately my nerves have gotten the best of me for the first few weeks which has hindered my performance and love of baking. I very much enjoy you videos, your personality, approach to instruction, well pretty much everything. I want you to know that while at work, I started thinking about you baking and it relaxes me to the point I can take a deep breath and just work. I love to watch your videos and often when I’m working I hear you in the background of my mind, which is awesome. Blessings on you sir,

That was the most entertaining and heart-warming paid promotion segment I've ever seen on YT. You guys are awesome together.

I love that Brian is now coming on camera with you once and a while !! Love being able to see a little glimpse of your beautiful family John! :)

I think what John meant to say is that at the 8:15 point in the video, drizzle about a cup of the hot milk mixture to the eggs while whisking. This will temper the egg mixture and prevent a lumpy scrambled egg constancy. Then whisk in the tempered eggs into the hot milk and return to medium heat and cook while stirring for about two minutes. then add the butter like the video show and continue!
  • That promo in the middle of the video was so amazing. It’s the first time I didn’t skip a promo

Failed my first pie because the egg portion was cut from the video so I didn’t temper my eggs and added them when the butter and coconut was already mixed in. My second attempt turned out perfectly and is one of the best pies I’ve ever eaten. Thank you!

My all time favorite pie. My grandma always made me one for family dinners when she still baked. Plan to make this for sure.

Hi John! I just finished this pie and the filling tastes amazing. I can’t wait to try it later. Just a quick note, I think there is a typo on the video subtitles and on the website. For milk it says 1 1/2 cups or 720 ml. I followed the cups measurement - but I think the millilitres conversion is 360 ml as you mention on the video.

I usually struggle with baking I’m not sure why, but these videos really make me more confident in my abilities to do so! That pie looks so amazing btw I’m drooling right now😆

Made this and it was delicious! As for my pie dough scraps, I roll the leftover out and cut into triangles with a pizza cutter, brush on some melted butter then sprinkle on some cinnamon sugar and bake at 350 degrees until the crust triangles are light golden brown around the edges and baked through but still tender. Then we enjoy a yummy snack. These are also great served with vanilla ice cream.

John, this recipe is AMAZING. I just made it for a friend, had some extra filling so I put the remaining amounts in a bowl just to try. I’m confident to say I will definitely be remaking this in a few days for myself! I’m not even a coconut person, but this was so creamy, not overly sweet, and had a perfect texture. I followed the exact recipe and it came out amazing, so easy as well. Thank you!!

I just made this recipe and I also used your pie crust recipe this pie is absolutely amazing I got so many compliments! Thankyou!

This is my sons favorite pie but with a Graham Cracker crust. When I make a flour crust I always roll out the leftover, put it on some foil, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, and bake till crispy. My son is 40 years old and he still gets excited for his cinnamon crisp, although he now has to share it with his 5 year old daughter. ;)
