In this Fall Line Ridge video, we continue our series on remodeling our living room (this is part 3). We'll put in insulation, take you through the process of using a Wood Mizer LT15 sawmill to edge seasoned lumber, plane it with a Grizzly planer, and then start putting up wall boards and window trim. This is part 3 of the series of remodeling the living room of what used to be an off grid cabin and builds upon the work done in previous episodes. Whether you're a DIYer following along with the series or just looking for inspiration for your own remodel, this video is a must-watch.

  • I love the timber houses that Americans often build for themselves. Here in Australia, new timber houses are nearly unheard of. We do have significant termite problems in most parts of the country but that can be mitigated with proper termite barriers and management. As far as I can see, it's just a preference thing. There was a time when all Queensland houses were made of natural timbers and those houses are often cherished by their owners. Timber houses have a character that brick veneer and plastered houses really lack.

MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………That wall looks good!
  • There comes a time on every job when you have to say "good enough". You're doing a great job best of luck to you. Oh if you want to get all the foam out of the cans you're supposed to hold them upside down. I used to work where they made that stuff.

  • Thank God for trees and the knowledge he gave man to cut wood for building. great video and great work. Thank You.
  • I know the satisfaction of working on one's own house, but to mill the lumber multiplies exponentially that feeling. Great video and nice work Wes well done. My grandfather was a carpenter back in the '40's and he had a great saying, "You can't see it from a galloping horse".

I always strive for perfection, but never achieve it. So what I end up with is close to perfection, which is a step up from average.

Hey Mr. Green Jeans. You can do anything !!! The wall looks really good, it came out nicely. And a brief appearance by the Junior Supervisor YAY Little Levi !!
  • I built several cabins by putting my rough lumber horizontal inside. If you will use black tar roofing paper stapled over the insulation...if the boards do draw up a little all you will have is a black line and want be able to see the studs. Just a FYI. You done a great video! Hats off to ya.

Hello Wes. Great job! You did not say, or if you did, I did not hear you, if you were going to stain or paint the wood. If painting, Elmers makes a great wood putty that is paintable. It comes in a squeeze bottle. I guess you knew that one day you would need that pile of lumber you had worked for. Have good days!
