  • “Socialist on my left, capitalist on my right” ha ha I see what you did there 😂
  • @Hellcat-to3yh
My god, as a socialist, I could’ve defended capitalism better than these people.
  • @chickenskink1
Love how Americans think Scandinavian countries aren't capitalist lmfao
  • @vexisvibin
Naming your child "Liberty" is the most American concept I've ever heard
  • @TheAleJRZ
“Can I get the socialists on my left and the capitalists on my right?” he knows what he’s doing

One mayor problem is that people in the US seem to be incapable of nuance. I'm from Norway, and I keep hearing people using my country or other Nordic countries as examples of how socialism works, and while it is true that we have a well working system, it is somewhat of a misrepresentation. The major economic concept used in in Nordic countries is capitalism, not socialism. It's just that we have collectively agreed that certain functions of society cannot be run using a capitalist model. Capitalism at it's core tries to profit off of a product. If you make humans the product, you immediately step out on shaky ethical grounds. That's why things like healthcare, education, welfare, housing, child care etc. is handled using a socialist model rather than a capitalist model in the Nordic countries. Taking the best parts of both capitalism and socialism, and getting rid of the bad parts of both, creates the best systems.

I would love to see this again with people who know what socialism and capitalism is.
  • @gogoki7425
i feel like these people discussed capitalism and socialism on a really basic level of understanding, being money. There is so much more to it that just money and the economy, it also has a cultural and ideological understanding that looks at the individual and the collective in society.
  • I’m actually pretty surprised how the comment section can find more middle ground than these dudes
  • @bigzerofps
How can a guy with a name like “mimi” be a socialist? Shouldnt it be “ourour”?
  • We need this again, but with more diversity and people who actually know what they’re talking about. And about a 1-2 hour video, maybe even 3.
  • @MrTKSKT
I love middle ground, but i hate that they cut the conversations so short, let people get deep into the debate.
  • It would be awesome if @Jubilee did less editing and let these episodes breathe a bit more. As soon as a conversation starts getting deeper, you cut it.
  • @shmarlo3203
People say something* Mimi: that is such an over used argument and a massive fallacy. However I will not provide any other information
  • Do this one again, but with actual economists and real experts on the subjects and make it like 45 mins.
  • @redfox8078
I burst out laughing when she said "it's hardly worth my time if you have all the facts and we know nothing" and they guy just said "sure"
  • Dude with the blue cap is trying way to hard to be the “mysterious anime character”
  • @brunodec
I just found out that Mimi, the older socialist, has passed away about a month ago. Even though I don't agree with his ideals, I respect the fact that he fought for what he believed to be right. Rest in peace.

I worked in a low paying food industry for 5 years and honestly it was the most depressed I’ve ever felt.
