Lyman was Jon's roommate, I always presumed he eventually moved out, and possibility forgot his dog.

The fact that there was a official garfield game with jumpscares in it is absolutley insane to me

When I was a kid Lyman’s disappearance inspired me to make a new comic where he was the owner of a pet cobra who loved to work out

Every picture of Jon from the Garfield Show is absolute gold
  • Ok how about this. Due to the happy nature of lyman and his little ability to talk to jon's depressed ass, he became a therapist talking to other people's depressed ass. There. Thats the obvious answer
  • I like to think Jon noticed Lyman being abusive so he kicked him out and took ownership of Odie.

Eerie that Jon became goofier when Lyman left, they say killers sometimes take on personality traits of their victims.

I wanna come clean with this man. Garfield's scary scavenger hunt was played at my school in the computer lab every Halloween week. And it scared the absolute hell out of me, I was so scared of it, I was told to play a different game at the front of the class where I can't see anyone else's screens. And to make sure I didn't see any gameplay that scared me, I stacked my classes lunchboxes around my computer to prevent seeing any of the game. But then like, in freshman year of high-school. On the day before Christmas Break. I played the entire game on my own in my video class, and I can now say proudly that I not only overcame a big childhood fear but ALSO beat the game and had fun!

garfield's scary svanger hunt.... oh my god.... that just unlocked hidden memories from my childhood

Oh Jim Davis, so innocent and pure. Thinks the people with anxiety about characters from the 80s are children

10 minutes of English class: 💀 10 minutes of obscure Garfield lore: ☺️
  • I felt that lyman was a good character to not have any knowledge on cats, allowing him and jon to bounce off each other well when garfield was up to something wacky. Like the strip you show where garfield is asking for the wine list

"What happened to Lyman?" Dissected by Dr. Garfield, that's for sure...
  • My personal in-universe idea of why Lyman left is pretty simple. He simply got enough money while being Jon's roomate, and just left.

I remember playing Garfields scary scavenger hunt when I was 8-9 and it was genuinely a good game and scary game. I still can remember that eery ambient music being used, the paintings that would switch and the “look closely” jumpscare

My guess is that the Garfield show isn’t canon, but their explanation of what happened to Lyman is.

When asked about what happened to Lyman, Jim Davis said, "Don't look in Jon's basement!" He was joking, but it still makes you think...

The reason Garfield talks in the Garfield Show is explained that he communicates with other animals, however humans cannot hear him unless magic or high-tech science is involved, such as in the small witchcraft saga when Mrs. Cauldron's niece uses a spell to understand Garfield. He talks to other animals, but humans hear Garfield in his low meows, along with other animals in their own respective sounds. They don't hear Garfield speak with words. Odie is incapable of talking normally though animalese without help though, so it's typically other animals translating for him, most of the time: Garfield. I'm not sure what sounds a turtle makes to speak, but then again I'm not sure how a cat lives off lasagna. Edit: I just remembered that the only time this rule is broken is when they are actively on the set for the Garfield Show, AKA when they're filming the show...within the show. Aside from that though, Garfield can't be heard.
