Eddie House: Caleb Martin's hard foul on Jayson Tatum wasn't 'malicious', 'suspension-worthy'

Published 2024-04-22
Eddie House and Tom Giles join Trenni Casey on Arbella Early Edition to take another look at Caleb Martin's hard foul on Jayson Tatum in the final minute of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference first round between the Celtics and Miami Heat. The crew discuss whether the play was an intentional attempt to hurt Tatum and what happens going forward in the series if Miami continues to 'junk things up' physically.

  • I like the way tatum got right up, didnt want any sympathy, didnt want to show any weakness.

Tatum for the first time he didnt care about a foul. A huge progress for his maturity.

To quote Mark Jackson: That's a brawl in the park.

This is how I know people really don't pay attention. Tatum didn't let Martin slide with that play. If you actually look at the next play Tatum caught him with a slick elbow to the jaw😅

I love that Eddie House pointed out the OBVIOUS FACT that Jrue Holiday Pushed Caleb Martin and his momentum did shift .. Get off yall knees Clear as day he got shoved
  • He was going for a follow up dunk. But holiday shoves him. The dirty p diddy got me😂

I love JB’s response, pushing him off JT! And I do like JT’s response and walked away. He doesn’t need to be getting a technical for responding or being eliminated from the game.

Caleb was looking at the ball the whole time and Jrue pushed him towards that direction. Suspension? Really? It was never intentional. Brian’s story about it was funny 😂
  • @martinalbert29
If Martin or anyone in the heat does it again though……..

Tatum showed tremendous self control and leadership on this unconscious foul. It’s a testament to Tatum’s upbringing and composure. He remained calm in the midst of stupidity. Anyone else there would be a bench clearing brawl . Bravo Tatum. You are a gentleman and a true Celtics . 👍👍👏👏

I just wish Tatum had a lil more edge. That shoulda made him mad.
  • I don't know how people are saying it's from Holiday's nudge... Martin was running full speed at Tatum. He probably would have hit him even harder if Jrue didn't nudge him.
  • @snekinrican
Tatum is soft AF!!!! Now Tatum has a built-in injury excuse for losing in the next round lol.

I kept saying it was a bone headed play however from this angle 0:57 you can clearly see Jrue pushing him into Tatum
