Yes! I love cooking rice with dashi stock. Just add a teaspoon of instant dashi and a tablespoon of soy sauce (or tamari if you need/want to avoid gluten) to the cooking water, for each cup of uncooked rice.

I have used chicken broth and it is good. Rotel is another that is really nice.

Use Tumeric Powder with water or broth. Rice becomes yellow. It is common in Indonesian or Indian Food.

I like the taste of a bowl of plain white rice. A little margarine, salt and pepper... sometimes I will chop up some onion and throw it in the rice cooker
