In this video we will show you how to make a living edge table. Yes, yes, yes - you are right this is from that very 200 year old ash tree cut. After vacuum drying, at your request, we decided to show you how you can make a table for a garden.
With the help of a chainsaw, we made the outline of the table. And we decided to use the effect of a stitched table.
We will also show one of the ways how to make legs in the form of an equilateral trapezoid. We will cover the table with wax from Osmo. And who has not seen the video of how we saved this 200 year old tree from the firebox,    • Logs to Lumber: 200 YEAR OLD TREE. Al...   , believe me it is very interesting.
Happy viewing.

  • I see what you did there - you couldn't be bothered to sand the edge, so you made a virtue of its roughness. Very sensible. Like buying brown underwear. I salute you sir!

This is a rather refreshing variation on 'filling gaps'. Most others would have filled those 'gaps' with epoxy resin but you've decided to bridge them with wooden splines, leaving the spaces in between open, yet fully capable of supporting whatever item is placed upon it's surface. Brilliant!
Wouahouh ! Chapeau bas Monsieur ! Continuez comme ça, vous êtes le meilleur ! You are the Best !!! ;-)

It turned out to be a beautiful table. I love the way you treated the naturally formed checks using the slats of wood rather than rushing for the epoxy resin. The skill & precision shown in producing & attaching the legs was a joy to watch. As I often say, the craftsmanship that you both display is brilliant. I could never tire of watching the skills & precision you both display. Delightful project. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
