"Not twinned with anywhere but it's got a suicide pact with Gdansk"... the surrealism of that sentence just made with laugh for 5 minutes straight

"A lack of intestinal fortitude." The vernacular of this man is next level
  • I love the fact that everyone on in the show listens in awe. Especially Susie.
  • @kwanarchive
Lee Mack normally takes the piss out of everyone with sarcastic remarks, but he seems to have a real genuine admiration for John Cooper Clarke.

I always think JCC should be cast as Doctor Who. If you ever really met a 1000-plus year old Time Lord, he'd be exactly like this.
  • John doesnt seem to roast anyone's poem and just happy to watch people try and write their own.

Very witty and funny guy, wish they’d bring him on more.

'Reversing into the future together' Genius.

John Cooper Clarke is a legend, I remember seeing him at Blackpool winter gardens, he was such a star. Also the most commercially successful poet in music who isn’t a singer/songwriter.

I met JCC at Stanstead airport a few years ago, after a brief chat he asked where I was going, I told him Latvia and he immediately said "Where's that via?" Genius.

Sometimes in life you are alive at the same time as a genius. John Cooer Clarke is a one of those and we are with him — gotta count ourselves lucky
  • @billybob7345
I get the impression JCC just loves words. They all made an effort and he couldn't get enough

Even Johns casual remarks seem like a line from a poem. Exhibit 1: "a roadblock on the highway of enlightenment"😁

Only two of my heroes have ever approached me and started talking. One was John Cooper-Clarke in Edinburgh in 1980 (and again on the London Underground in 1995). The other was Mark E Smith (The Fall) in Birmingham in 1997. Both John and Mark were born in Salford, a place (including neighbouring Prestwich and Broughton where they grew up) that should be proud of producing such friendly and down to Earth (as well as talented) people.

I love the reverence and respect that they show to the great man. Truly a modern-day shakespeare reminding us to not regress to interactions such as 'wys bro'
  • "Shook hands and my whole right arm sobered up " - Dean Martin said about shaking hands with Pat Boone .

Absolutely love this guy ...I remember being a young punk and him being so cool. A Treasure

Can't believe we studied him in year 12 English in 1984, A master wordsmith at work
