I always felt so bad for Richie's brother in the movie because he always seemed to get the crappy end of the stick with his mother. Yes he was a bit of a screw up but when he tried like winning the art contest she never cared.

Esai Morales is vastly underrated. Guy owns every film he appears in.
  • @apb38
This movie had so many elements that hit so close to home and you can thank Esai and Lou for making it happen.

I am Mexican-American, born in Santa Monica, I have been to Mexico countless times in my life. Whenever someone, Including my wife and my in-laws, ask me what Mexico is like, I show them this. To me it's a place of healing and rejuvenation, where I can get back to my ancestors and just wash myself and remind myself where I came from.

A good example of a Chicano can't speak Spanish but is willing to learn the old ways while applying it to their world
  • @Cris_Gomez
That “Bob.” At the end, I Felt that 😂

Goddam Esai Morales was badass in this movie. Should have been at least nominated for an Oscar.
  • @elgato4619
It hit me deep when Bob just answered "mexico" like yup Richie get some Sam cultura
  • I'd rather party and wake up to this in Mexico than be at some tourist trap bar then waking up in a tacky resort
  • @szashcraft
That rattlesnake sound tho! Every time I went to Mexico I would listen for it, and I never heard it
  • @samu3lj3son93
I was a fuck up, but thank God I was able to turn my life around, now I'm still fucking up 🤣🤣
  • @marioparedes4936
Kool scene, where Bob says he's been coming here for years, his spiritual father, because he had no father, and Ritchie liked, la mala vida, the bad life, and Connie. Reminds me of my mom, when I came home buzzed, brought back many memories
  • @funkmonster
It's crazy that mom's can talk to their sons like this. I think of Tony Montana's mom in Scarface when I see this clip. It's like damn, mom has some words to say, "Go play with your bike!" LMFAO. Savage.
  • One of the greatest scenes ever from one of the greatest films ever...
  • Ritchie Valens: Goes from not being able to speak Spanish to being able to sing "La Bamba" with EXTENSIVE and fluent Spanish after a trip to Mexico with his brother!
  • @kiriarte92
You gotta admit... Thats damn good writing. When Ritchie accepts the gift from the healer and asks " What is all this? " and Bobs response is, " Mexico " It's so amazing to see in the very next scene when the mother asks the same thing about the necklace itself " What is this? " and Ritchies response is, " Bob " Damn good writing.
