Pokémon really peaked on the DS, speaking of music, art style and story.

I’m fucking crying, for real. Takes me back to simpler times that I’ll never get back. But, it is what it is. All you can do is look back fondly and smile, and be happy that you have those memories at all.

you know pokemon is truly magical when you read the comment section and see people talking about how special this region is, their first experiences with pokemon, simpler times, etc. i remember when my mom got me blue version way back in the day. instead of backlit screens i used mini lamps that you plugged into the gameboy so i could play under the blanket. gen 1, 2, and 3 are where most of my pokemon memories are from but i’m really glad i picked up gen 4. awesome mix, man. hits right in the feels

I can only describe Sinnoh and Hoenn with one word: Home

Gen 4 was the 1st one I got in the series. Parents were very religious and fell for the anti-pokémon craze (among most anime and games for me) so once I got a DS, i was able to save up enough for Diamond. Even bought it used at gamestop so it didn't come with a case in fear of them finding it and throwing a fit at me xD I remember using Diamond to call my friends long-distance, since skype wasn't well-known at the time (also shit pc). I remember my 1st competitive team. I remember my starter was Turtwig, and that I steamrolled through the 1st gyms. Gave me such excitement to keep playing.

This reminds me of using the mine system in Pearl with my brother and we would set up traps around our bases and try to get each other's flags, it was so much fun when I could just play on my ds with my brother and the only thing that we would worry about was our mom coming to say it was bedtime, but we would still sneak our games under the pillow

Tomorrow this will hit different

if there's gen 8 sinnoh games, they should have lofi soundtracks to relax/study to. fits the comfy and solemn vibes of the region perfectly

I took the times back then for granted. Playing DPPT until my DS looked like it had been through hell and back was some of the most peaceful times of my life. Edit: This mix is fucking insane, that route 209 theme almost broke me😭

I have never seen anything that unites more the people than pokemon. It's amazing how everyone has his personal storie and how it makes us fell younguer again. It's more than a game it's the chilhood of all of us and the way we had to desconnect from world when we were kids. It's just amazing how a game has changed our lives.

They say you never forget your first. First region, first game, first starter. And Platinum was my introduction to the (somewhat) wonderful world of Pokemon (looking at you, Scarlet/Violet). I happily remember being adamant I wouldn't nickname my starter Chimchar "Monkey" at the insistence of one of my younger cousins.
