SCP 1003 -1 is an adult tapeworm of the species Echinococcus granulosus, known for causing hydatid disease. Like others of its species, SCP1003 -1 inhabits the small intestines of carnivores (typically canids), where it produces eggs that are passed in the host's faeces.

By 8 weeks, it is as mature as a 3-week-old neonate, although it is similar in size to an 8-week-old embryo (approximately 13-16 cm). Once it has reached this stage, it will actively consume the intermediate host from within using sharp, hooked teeth. SCP-1003-2 growth is accelerated to an even greater extent as it is doing this. By the time it has fully consumed the intermediate host , it will have developed into a child.

I love the way the narratives are delivered. Not knowing how the SCP behaves makes the story more engaging, and the explanation at the end all the more satisfying.

Every selfless and heroic thing the rancher did, made me more and more anxious assuming he and his dog wouldn't make it. Definitely a nail biter

I think one of the saddest parts about this is that the tapeworm children don’t even know that they’re dangerous. If they get attached to anyone, said person would probably end up dying by their hands and they wouldn’t even know why. That’s a pretty miserable existence.
  • What makes this anomally so insidious is that not even the host children understand what is going on. They're as helpless to stop the effects as the people they inadvertently kill
  • Man that really bummed me out. As a child of the Midwest that rancher was the exact picture of many men I’ve known, kindness and “do what must be done even if it’s miserable” and all. They are truly some of the best folks you’ll ever know.

"children are parasites." Taken to a whole new containment level.

The rancher was so so so kind and loving towards his family. I got attached to a fictional characters in only 20 minutes of story telling. Good job Dr Bob.

This could be a full-on movie with how it was presented. The mystery, the intrique, the horror, its all very engaging.

I love this story in particular, it's freaking disgusting and terrifying, but amazing at the same time. I love how well-made the plot was

I'm just so glad that the poor man didn't loose his dog. It's so relifing to me to know that animals don't die.
  • This one's sad. Every character here was someone you didn't want anything bad to happen to, and it was all the more tragic when the truth unfolded. I felt bad even for Jorge, and he never really appeared in the story.

Containment Breaches as a D-Class are cool and all, but imagine playing as a tapeworm child trying to succeed at tests and get out of SCP captivity without knowing what you are. A game similar to having the test chambers of portal and brightly colored and decorated rooms like a child's classroom.

Reminder: A huge chunk of the horror in this one(what happened to the cows) is just straight up when unchecked regular tapeworms do.

This SCP has always stuck in my mind for a few years for two reasons 1) The children being just so.. innocent in all of this. Outside of their anomalous properties. It's such a shame really. 2) The accompanying original image (Now deleted thanks to copyright nonsense). Very over the top but definitely made a lasting impression of a we bab like myself; at the time. Another good one, Dr. Bob. Also holy shit the newborn child was uncanny to start with, but the second it lost it's tapeworm teeth and grew its new set REALLY ramped up the uncanny * shudder *

Is it just me, or did that rancher look like he could have passed for a slightly older version of Dr. Bob?
  • Loved this one. So sad the rancher was just trynna help and it caused him so much pain…Literal hell. One of my favs so far, just showing how kind and caring he was to help and how things ended so bad.
  • I honestly just want to give one of these poor kids a hug because one I think they need a little love in their lives and two I just feel so bad for them, they didn’t choose to be born this way
  • The fact that many SCPs are things or even people you utterly wouldn't expect to be dangerous makes them all the more terrifying. One second you could be looking at the face of a sweet adorable puppy. The next you could be looking at the face of a massive dog-like creature that could rend time and space apart by devouring.

"His head started to swim." This is by far the best description of hyperventilating I've ever heard. Absolutely beautiful. Oh wait, good vid btw.
