sad that Cities skylines 2 was such a rushed product. You'd think their publisher would understand that if you don't release a good game then you can't milk it for mtx

Paradox is literally worse than EA. They milk their IP and developers to hell, everything under this company just burns.
  • You said the magic word, Paradox. Aas a publisher they have been releasing underbaked products and nickel and diming their customers with DLCs. They follow the Creative Assembly business model since they are some of the few publishers doing consistent releases of strategy type games.

For years prior to release I alerted CO directly and in many public forums that they needed to switch from Unity for Cities 2. The engine isn't made for this kind of game and without a custom engine it will never have acceptable performance once a city reaches critical mass. Given how much money the first game made, it's criminal that they just went ahead as they did, they owed the huge player base more. But given that they still raked in millions in pre-release sales and even more upon release, once again, this is probably the consumer's fault. Stop preordering games and stop supporting companies with obvious anti-consumer practices. Companies like Paradox aren't satisfied with a fair price for a finished product, they want all your money in perpetuity. Say "no" with your wallet or these companies will continue to fleece you for everything they can.

I used to dislike review bombing, but recently have come to realize games that get review bombed go on sale sooner and cheaper. So maybe it's a win for me. 🤔
  • I wasn't much involved with the game nor I owned it but the moment I saw the DLC on Steam store page I knew it's gonna be some dumbster fire. :3
  • The only city I built in city skylines 2 is Pompeii, Italy. Translation a great game that was ruined by the developers and deadlines. It was built on business cooperation, rather than passion and the community. This is why I still play city skylines 1 and other city building games. For the first time since 20007, I played SimCity 3000 unlimited. Bring back great memories and have a lot of fun, reliving the moments.

Paradox never had any good will, their DLC and mtx practices have always been one of the worst in the whole industry, Colossal Order were the ones with the good will at the beginning for delivering a good (and arguably better) more expansive Simcty 2013 clone, which was quickly eroded with Paradox's DLC nickel and dime tactics, which got old really fast trust me and now they want a repeat of the same crap with the 2nd game a la "Sims" where the sequel always lacks everything the old one already had so they can sell it again as DLC.
  • This is why I never pre-order games. Paradox was on thin ice with me even before this disaster. Now, Paradox is firmly on my no-buy list. Unless they make major changes for the better, they will get no more of my money.
  • First we had Maxxis Sim City 5 become the failure that people jumped to Cities XL, then we had Cities XXL that became a failure and people went to Cities Skylines, now we have Cities Skylines 2 failing... Who will pick up the mantle of best city builder game to play next?
  • bad idea to put Forspoken on that list cause even tho games like Star Wars/TLOU/Dogma 2 are/were bad on performance those games were good

We cannot forget that cities in motion 1 was amazing then cities in motion 2 was a massive blunder just like this game where it looked good but the content and the performance left a lot to be desired then they made cities skylines and had a massive come back so this company has a history of a strong recovery.

i saw this game in LTT channel and even them build a top of the line PC cant run this game well all max settings
  • @TheRealAlpha2
"Let's get ahead of the fact that our game is gonna run like shit." No how about you get ahead of the game running like shit first by fixing it and tell people later "sorry it's late, it ran like shit." Beyond that, yeah the more you kick people the more they're going to take offense to getting kicked. WHAT A CONCEPT. I guess that's what happens the more corporations stop seeing us as people.

These complaints in Steam are hilarious! the DLC was a mere $10 for crying out loud and they sound off like the expected the DLC to a full featured game in it's own right I need some Soda and Popcorn for this

My youngest daughter loves cities 1 and was super excited for cities 2. She was so let down.
