Batman Arkham Origins is still seen to this day as the worst in the franchise and as a type of ugly duck in a lot of Arkham fans' eyes. Despite having awesome combat that is arguably the best in the franchise due to its aggressiveness, stealth that was good as ever, boss fights that are the best the series has seen, and a story that easily stands with the rest of the series, a lot of people, including myself, still felt that the game was a little unoriginal and that it had a bit of an Identity crisis. I think that while I had quite a few problems with Origins I still hold it as my second favourite in the entire series above both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

One thing that a lot of people had asked me about in my Arkham Origins video was my thoughts on the DLC. Specifically Cold Cold Heart. I figure I should take the same method I took in covering the DLC within Arkham Knight and take a look at the Season Pass within Arkham Origins. I do this because It’s an easy way to compile my thoughts on all the DLC in one video rather than have multiple short videos. A season pass for a game is also often cheaper than buying all the DLC individually so I can also comment on if the season pass as a whole is worth it.

Before we start talking about the content I need to talk about the price point that this season pass is at. Arkham Origins on steam is $20 Canadian Big ones and unfortunately, the season pass is also $20. In fairness to the game I bought both of them on sale for $5 each and these sales are a common occurrence. Despite this, the content here is nowhere near the length of the main story as the main story of Arkham Origins took me 8 hours, not including side quests and all the DLC content here adds up to about 4 hours. Because of this off the bat, I’d have to say that the season pass is only worth grabbing if it’s on sale for $10 or less. That’s not to say that the content here is lacking in quality but to say that when compared to the main game which has the same level of quality and a much longer playtime, $20 is too much to ask.

I think all the DLCs included in the season pass were pretty good and overall I think it is worth the $20 however I think it’s best to wait for this one to go on sale because when comparing it to the main game that retailed for the same price it’s just not worth it. Playing as Deathstroke made the challenge maps a whole lot more interesting and that goes for the initiation package too as the new maps and enemies spice up the sometimes tired gameplay

I like how he just turned it into a raid shadow legends ad out of nowhere

People hate on arkham origins but its my favorite of the series, I had the most fun playing it over the other ones.

One idea for the Bruce sections, instead of giving him Detective Vision or a reskinned version of it, make it like "listen mode" from TLOU where Bruce can hear noises from enemies if he stops moving. This has several applications. Firstly, it makes playing as Bruce and as Batman feel more distinct and makes Batman's equipment feel like a neccessary upgrade (and it makes the DLC have its own gameplay gimmick that makes it play differently from the main game which would entice more people to buy it as it wouldn't just be more of the same). Secondly, it makes the player have to rely on their wits a lot more since sound provides a less complete picture than Detective Vision. Thirdly, there are lots of interesting ways enemies and the player can respond to it. Like, they can adapt to it by moving slower which makes Listen Mode less effective so the player might have to do something to prompt the enemies to run for a short while to see them. The enemies can make their own noises to confuse the player's Listen Mode and lure them into a trap. Fourthly, it makes learning to avoid the crutch a more skillful endeavor instead of a handicap. Players who "git gud" at Predator segments without needing Listen Mode as much do much better than players relying on it which encourages players to work more.

Cold cold heart fulfils everything I wanted from a Batman dlc, almost anyway, you get to play as Bruce, walk through the manor, go down to the bat cave, fight new enemies, a new suit and reworked gadgets. I don’t think any other dlc for any of the other games gives you a new suit and enemies. For me that’s why cold cold heart is my favourite.
  • The whole premise of the Arkham City Freeze fight was that he was too dangerous to be taken head on. Would've liked to have seen young Bats in this DLC try to go in head first and get wrecked. Would've given his apprehension in City some background.

One thing that always bothered me while playing as Deathstroke is that he's just Robin, animation-wise. I was hoping for something unique and more brutal.

Dude the death stroke battle in arkham knight was so ASS, I loved the one in origins it was so amazing and fun. The death stroke boss fight in origins is my favorite boss in any game
  • @nightnday420
I think they made the combat the same on purpose. During the boss fight with freeze in arkham city, Batman requests info on freeze from alfred, Info that pertains to their LAST fight. Strategies on how to take him down

  • 17:09 was hilarious! 😂 Also I was so confused when this DLC was getting average reviews and somehow they were all giving Harley Quinn’s revenge great reviews despite being no better than Cold, Cold Heart
  • @ppgranja3
I think Origins and it's DLC is much better than anything from Asylum and City...
  • Deathstroke felt like a skin for the Arkham City Robin character with very few new moves. On other note, the experience over all of the DLC I felt was worth the price, along with all the new challenge maps that came with the Azrael Skin for Batman which were a lot of fun even if some were re-skinned maps from arkham city like the museum or the GCPD building and I'm surprised you didn't mention them. That aside, great video as always!
