    Thanks for sharing, it's sad to hear that something that brings you comfort was treated as being 'wrong' or 'weird'. I'm an ADHD person and through out my childhood I was told not to stim, of course at the time I didn't undestand why I felt so uncomfortable all the time. At this point luckiy I am comfortable and confident engough with being myself and my work enviroment is supportive that I can stim without being considered rude. I really enjoyed you sharing your experience.
  • I hear this a lot from people who stim. That they were suppressed by someone or that they felt the need to suppress their stimming for fear of being perceived in some negative way or being “embarrassing”. I used to get very annoyed with some family members of mine who would do that to their child. Chastise and discourage him from stimming when I knew it was what made him feel good and calm. It was very upsetting to see them essentially bully their own child.
