  • I know many hated the water travel from one island to another but personally it was one of my favourite parts of WW. The story line of WW is one of the best of the entire franchise.

You did miss some IMPORTANT details in the 'Redead Statue' in the Earth Temple, and ones I think are worth mentioning because they shift the lore of the dungeon CONSIDERABLY. The statue is not, in fact, a Redead. Everyone assumes that because of the earrings matching, but that's the only shared detail. Look closer: it has an enlarged, beak-like nose. It has a gem decoration in its forehead. And it has long hair, pulled up into a topknot. Wasn't there a race in Ocarina of Time with those traits? One that is not visibly present in Wind Waker? It's not a redead. It's a GERUDO, grinning with greed, and you HAVE TO MAKE HER SEE THE LIGHT to pass. It's a reference to Nabooru! Which dungeon was it the Mirror Shield was in in OOT? Which featured tons of light-based puzzles featuring spinning sun emblems? The Spirit Temple. Which was built by the Gerudo. The Earth Temple is likely a rebuilt Spirit Temple, containing a votive of Nabooru's changed ways, and is likely very deeply connected to the Gerudo! As may be the Redeads... in a tragic manner.

something the earth temple segment got me thinking about is the relation between the dead and the sun, the redead face becoming a sun and jalhalla being weak to sunlight. it's reminiscent of how in ocarina of time the sun's song was the only thing that could stun redeads and was learned in the kakariko graveyard's royal tomb, not far from the shadow temple.

I never realized that Ganon's Tower was located in the Gerudo Desert this entire time, but it makes a lot of sense.
  • @BanditGames
Pleasure doing these with you sir! See you at PAX in like 24 hours- 😁
  • What's REALLY sad and interesting about Volvagia is that in the OOT manga, it's revealed that young Link knew Volvagia as a child. He'd set him free from a vendor selling animals and Volvagia and Link bonded and played together for a while. Then as an adult, Link tried with all his might to bring Volvagia back to his senses after being controlled by Ganondorf. When he couldn't, he had to kill him and as Volvagia died, the dragon was crying.

Not having a N64, but owning a gamecube, wind waker was my first console zelda game. It has a certain spot of nostalgia for me, and I greatly enjoyed this video. Thank you.
  • I know that it’s a much less popular game, but lore-wise it would be really interesting to see a video on New Hyrule from Spirit Tracks. Especially since the implication is that it’s at a very high altitude in comparison with old Hyrule. If it weren’t for the flooding to bring up the sea level, it would be a lot like living in Bolivia.
  • 4:12 There was a cut volcano that was to be their new home. It had a village along the lower incline of the volcano with a path leading to a cave near the top.
  • @valhersa29
The sage of Wind, a walking-talking plant The sage of Earth, a flying bird girl I always found it sort of ironic.
  • @TheRCScotsman
Wind Waker is so special. The sense of adventure is almost unmatched and it flips between "cutesy and fun" and dark and mysterious", with everything in-between. I've tried to list my favourite 3D Zelda games in order and I always get stuck with Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker HD and Breath of the Wild. I just cannot decide. BOTW, I reckon, is the best console game I've ever played. But "best" and "favourite" are two very different things.
  • I always wondered why the Zora fled to the mountain tops with everyone else. As an aquatic race, you'd think their first thoughts upon realizing that Hyrule was about to be under water would be less "Get to higher ground!" and more "Free real estate!"
  • @Sam_T2000
I think the Earth Temple in Wind Waker might be my favorite “Shadow” Dungeon… even though it’s not branded as such, it is dark and gloomy, and filled with ghosts. the light/dark motif is neat, too.
  • @WeroEdward
I have to say, I am a little disappointed that you didn't mention the Gerudo symbolism in the Earth temple. It has a lot of ties to the Spirit temple from OoT and just desert symbolism in general, like the giant mirrors being in the shape of scorpions for example.
  • Someone made the amusing comparison in saying the Dragon Roost Cavern music is like ''dodongo's cavern riding yoshi''
  • @blitzgirl6522
Playing Elden Ring music during the Earth Temple bit feels so perfect, got to say! Earth Temple is one of my favorite Zelda dungeons.
  • Can we take a moment to appreciate that these two amazing Zelda YouTubers work together that often! :) These videos are really special, I can't wait for TOTK related ones when the game's out
  • How would you guys feel that near your home there is a secret hole/area that has a labyrinth filled with REDEADS AND DARKNUTS
  • @justaguy2182
The Earth Temple is by far my favorite dungeon in the game, and one of the better ones in the series in my opinion. I like it's approach to a house of the dead type thing more than the Shadow Temple. An ancient tomb where the dead rest soundly is a whole lot more appealing than a torture chamber.
  • Did anyone else notice when Zeltik is reading the text overlay from the Tower of the Godd, you can see Link fly into the side of the rising Tower and then fall into the water? Same thing that happened during the first trip to The Forsaken Fortress. Link smacks the side of the building then falls into the water. Ah classic Link
