I feel so bad for the woman that was raped. She said "I felt that If I gained that weight, then nobody would touch me". Wow... that line is beyond depressing

Losing weight is 80% diet, 20% exercise. You HAVE to cut out the crap food if you want to lose weight.

I like this interviewer. She doesn't try to give her opinion to these folks, doesn't tell them they "should" do anything, she just asks questions and listens and actually tries to empathize and understand. A good style of reporting.

Briana is such a well-mannered young lady. She seems very kind. I hope she's doing well now.
  • "Brianna why do you want to lose the weight?" "For myself." Girl, yessssss 👏👏👏

Jaylens mother needs to pull the hell up and do what’s right for her child. My 4 year old son does the same thing when he wants something. My favourite line after saying no a million times is “tough luck mate”

I know he is just a kid, but Jalen is so spoiled. His mom babies him so much.

At 4 years old, 4 years old, BLOOMING FOUR YEARS OLD??? Who else thought the boy was at least 9 years old and just short.
  • The correlation between poverty, education, diet, food availability, and politics is absolutely undeniable.
  • Brianna was a student at an institution I worked at and she was one the coolest students that came into my office. She was really sweet!

I love Lisa Ling's approach. She knows this isn't about her, so she stays in the background. Her style is to-the-point but listening, observing. There are too many reporters getting emotionally involved and showing it by getting agitated etc. which isn't professional at all.

In the south being “thick” or having “meat on your bones” is praised. Growing up my Grandma would feed me and feed me because I was too skinny. This mindset has got to change.

I hate how some kids go to bed hungry. And some kids are eating so much are dying.

I started sobbing 😭😭😭 when I saw Brianna in her beautiful yellow gown--she looked like a princess! I hope nothing but the very best for her and her family!!! 😘😘😘💓💓💓

He's eating in the doctor office and he weighs more than my 12 year old son. It's not like he can fix his own food so I blame the parent
  • He’s not even crying he’s just making noises so his mum will give him more & more food.
  • Brianna actually looks like a runner when she runs. She has an athletic run. If she lost weight she could probably be pretty fast

I'm taking a Poverty & Nutrition class at my uni and they made a very interesting point that we usually imagine a very skinny person when we think of people who are food insecure but in reality they can also be bigger set. We also tend to think they "don't miss a meal" but actually cheap/affordable food tends to be unhealthy and whatever they can afford (junk food) stores up. The correlations between obesity, poverty, & food insecurity really go hand in hand... it's much deeper than a "eat something healthy" especially in the demographic areas of low income communities.

I wish I could get an update on everyone since it’s been almost 9 years
