Thanks for that. Helped me solve my problem! Whoo hoo! Aftermarket carb didn't have that adjustor but there was a screw that did it. 👍

Well, mine just started surging, but I can't find fault with engine. This is a Ford garden tractor that was purchased in 1990. Never have had any real problems, other than the little weird fuel pump. I have ordered new plugs and air filter. Checking fuel filter next, because it will run better if it is choked. I'm hoping it is something simple. I will look for the air/fuel ration adjustment and see if it has one. This is an 18HP Kohler. I know it also has an low oil safety switch, but it is only down a little on the oil.
  • got this same engine on my old cub cadet rider its the only thing on the mower that works still , it did love to go through starters tho

do you use pliers to pull that black cap off or screw cap off?

Some of the carbs do not come with adjustment screws, so you have to look at the jet inside the carbs you get from China which are probably to small, They usually list a range of engines, like 15hp to 25hp, which the carb will most likely fit but to run correctly you need the correct size jets. Good video. Thank You...

I’ve replaced the: Carb (with an OEM kohler) Fuel pump Fuel filter Spark plugs ( I have a kohler v-twin pro series 7000 engine) Air filter Battery Blades Oil and oil filter And the damn thing STILL SURGES! I have run out of ideas. Any tips would be great, thanks!

Did you disable the safety switch in the seat to keep the engine running while adjusting the carburetor? The moment I get off my seat, engine shuts off.

I have a weird problem with mine. The speed control lever moves up and down just fine with all the components underneath. Yet, engine runs at high speed only, regardless where the speed control lever is. In other words, it only has 1 speed, and it is high.
