Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”) and Patrick Aison (“Prey”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., p.g.a. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, p.g.a., Amanda Silver, p.g.a., Jason Reed, p.g.a. (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

Why is it this franchise is the most underrated sleeper hit of the decade. It’s just quietly carving out its own universe creating legendary stories each film

Rise, dawn, and war are genuinely some of the most underappreciated masterpieces, this may not be Matt Reeves, but this is looking phenomenal
  • Love how Ceasar has become such a legend and still being honored by future generations, that even his window from the 1st movie has become their symbol.

Proximus throne is the same shape as Caeser's window from his old home, i love that the apes still respected and remember him as a true king

"Together we are strong" is such a cool callback to Caesar in the original.

I'm not gonna lie, Proximus is already shaping up to be one of the best villains in a franchise where they're consistently good.
  • @gaebril131
"Apes and humans lived side by side" is putting it very very generously

God… I feel like a kid again anticipating a movie to hit theater.

Watched this last night and I enjoyed every second of it. This franchise is severely underrated.

I love how gradual this franchise is in terms of lore, world-building, and story.

I like that there's a clear villain. Very focused around the villain too.

Just saw this movie 2 days ago. It was the best and most complex movie I have seen in a long time. Would watch it again

I am 50. Old enough to remember the originals from the 70's. Young enough to look forward to the next Planet of the Apes movie of this time. Looks incredible. Can't wait.

Planet of the Apes is one of those movie ideas that sounds stupid/silly on paper but can be an unparalleled experience in practice

Just watched it last night at a special screening for it and it is a really good and enjoyable film. Had my worries in director change but I felt it respected the legacy of the previous trilogy and continued the legacy very well
