Digging Texas Artifacts

Published 2024-01-22
In this video I am digging Texas Artifacts on private property that used to be owned by my family. The current owner is friends with my grand parents which gave me permission for us to be there.

My uncle Bryan and I used to go hunting for artifacts all the time when I was younger so while i was visiting family in Texas (September 2023) I thought it would be cool to go hunting with him again. We found some cool stuff. I hope you enjoy the video.

Wow those finds were awesome. I know the others were finding some amazing finds! And your collection was just gorgeous! The frames you made to back them, set them off just beautifully! Your finds, even just the flakes, are such amazing materials, and to see these things, like fossils or imprints of fossils, is amazing to think about the fact that our ancient cousins used materials like that, because they valued the beauty of it too! Amazing! Thanks Kurt!❤

The terrain is very interesting. I bet it was fun and a great adventure climbing and discovering when you were a kid.

nice finds and the soil has that powdered half ash well beaten look of a camp !

You might want to use a trowel and other small tools to carefully dig. Using a rock hammer is one sure way to break anything you come in contact with. Just for the record though, there is no such thing as a "bird point". Collectors have used that term for some time. Generally what they are referring to is a small, true arrow point. The bow and arrow however did not appear in the Eastern hemisphere until around 2000 years ago. The small arrowheads were used to kill any size animal including man. I know of archeologists who cringe when they here someone refer to small arrowheads as bird points. Its best to be as accurate as we can when describing Indian artifacts. That way true knowledge and science grows and we can pass along to others what the truth is and hopefully that knowledge will continue to grow.

Pretty awesome finds for the amount of digging you guys did! I used to have a good arrowhead spot but not so much anymore... My area is loaded with them though. I need to get on it and find another good spot. Jeff HuntingRocks still hasn't found one in Missouri yet! I gotta change that lol.

Please get a probe like bottle diggers use or make one from a car antenna a solid one put a small funnel on the base and when you probe you'll be able to hear everything the probe encounters it would be painful to your viewers to see someone who loves artifacts break them yourself
