  • Former Disney cast member here (I know what I’m talking about, I lived in Disney for a year and taught people this app and have visited WDW multiple times since leaving the DCP) book your first 3fast pass plus reservations immediately one after another or as soon as possible. For example, my MK day with my mom for my birthday was rope drop 9am, jungle cruise at 9:30, space mountain 10:30, meet Mickey at 11:30. As soon as we checked in for our mickey fast pass, we immediately consulted the app for our next fast pass. We were still in the fast pass line and hadn’t even met Mickey yet! Also, when you make a reservation hit the “modify” button and refresh the times. Something earlier might just pop up; that way you can snag an earlier time. Say we meet Mickey at 11:30 but the next fast pass isn’t available until 3pm. Make that 3pm fast pass so that you have it, and refresh. And refresh. And refresh until 11:45 becomes available. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

My personal hack is: on the day, after your 3 fast passes, when you book a fast pass for an attraction you want, but the slot is hours away, keep trying to modify and refresh times, as there's a big chance that an earlier slot will pop up. I managed to do 5 extra FPs for popular attractions within a couple of hours, back to back, during spring break.
  • another hack: if you were unfortunate like me and couldnt get a Space Mountain FP, head there during the fireworks. wait time becomes MUCH shorter!
  • not necessary a fast pass tip but if you are using a fast pass app on your phone than bring along a phone charger so you don't loose your access to the app on your phone

Hope some of these secrets & tips help you navigate Fastpass at Walt Disney World. Again availability really depends on the time of year and day of the week you head to the parks, so keep checking the app for the rides you want!
  • Sometimes I book a fastpass then realize I can't make it, I drop it. If I can't enjoy it, at least I'm giving someone else the opportunity to grab it and enjoy it.

When we went to the Magic Kingdom we all linked our tickets as a group so we could book fastpasses together. For some reason our one friend couldn’t link his ticket with us but the cast members were so nice that they’d let him ride with our group even without a fast-pass. Cast members truly go above and beyond just to make the guests happy!
  • Just returned from Disney World and it is important to note that the "App" does NOT keep up with the "Stations" located throughout the parks. Do NOT depend on the App alone- check the stations which are spread throughout the park and are incredibly easy to use. In other words- the app on your phone lists fewer available fast passes as compared to the stations BY A LOT!

One thing I found out this summer (that may have been mentioned previously, but I didn’t know) was that if a ride you have a FastPass for experiences problems and closes during your timeslot then you can use it for any other ride on the park, or use it for the same ride at any other time that you wish (if you don’t cancel your FastPass). It happened to me for Test Track, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Toy Story Midway Mania, but was really useful as it meant that I got straight on Frozen Ever After and Seven Dwarves Mine Train, and headed back to Toy Story Mania when it was fixed a few hours later.

Another note for people: Don't forget a lot of the character meet and greets also use fastpass! Using them I was able to meet Mickey and the princesses in MK with almost no wait!

I don't think this was mentioned, but here's another tip for days that aren't so busy: you can move up your Fastpass after you've scanned into one. So let's say you have Seven Dwarfs at 12pm, then Space Mountain at 1pm. Once you scan into Seven Dwarfs, check the app and see if Space Mountain has a 12:15 or 12:30. You can move the ride up if so without having to wait out the rest of the hour after Seven Dwarfs. Granted, by the time you get on the ride and through it, you'd probably only have 45 minutes to spare between rides. Most of the time, I'd have plenty of gaps between rides and if you're on a mission to get on as many rides as possible in a day, that's a good way to get through your main three so you can book additional.

Rope drop is the best option for Flight of Passage because when I️ was there for Spring Break this year me and my older brother got up before the park opened and got to the park a hour before it opened and went straight to it and we were the 4&5th person in line and got on the first ride of the day without waiting in the usuall 2-4 hour wait

For older people who aren't quite cell-phone APP savvy, there are TWO ways you may be able avoid all this stuff, and not spend your entire day screaming at your phone and each other. OPTION ONE: If at least one member in your group uses a wheelchair, Disney will normally allow the rest of the group to use the Wheelchair Entrance with that person, as long as it's a small group. 2 or 3, maybe 4 people can use the handicap entrance as one party, depending on the circumstances. Disney tries to be quite accommodating for people who have mobility issues. However, if you have a large group, most of the group will NOT be allowed to use the handicap entrance, just to "accompany" one person in a wheelchair. Of course, the rides you and your party can get on are limited to those rides that a person with limited mobility can ride. The Employee at the entrance to the ride should be able to tell you (and those accompanying you) where to go to avoid the line all together. Normally the wheelchair access is NOT the same as the line entrance. So, if the employee at the Line Starts Here sign doesn't automatically tell you where to go, when they see you roll up, be sure to ask. They're wonderfully helpful. Oh, and you are accommodated just as if you were FP, and sometimes even before them. Disney realizes you're not going to be ride hopping, and it's difficult for you and your party to get around the park. They do everything they can to accommodate your party once you make it to a ride. OPTION TWO: Allow your grandchild to do all of this for you, and STOP ASKING THEM QUESTIONS WHILE THEY DO IT!!! They know what they're doing, and you will NEVER understand the FP system, "rope drop", or even the difference between "modify" and "refresh". So just relax, give up control the future generations, and let them make your FP plans for you when at the park. Just make sure that they understand your mobility issues and don't book you on Thunder Mountain Rail Road.

Rope Drop for Flight of Passage is amazing. We had to wake up at 5am for a 7am extra magic hour, but we were some of the first in line and got on FOP at 7:25. So worth it!
  • @benrayl134
Actually, today is the first day when I can book my Fastpasses! This was so helpful and on time.
  • Can you please do a second version of this video since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening in the Fall of 2019?

I remember waiting in line for Soarin’ around 7pm right in the middle of spring break this year. ALL the Fastpasses were gone since lunchtime except for Nemo in EPCOT. While in line, I refreshed the screen for a good 20 minuets and got a TestTrack Fastpass, and then an Illuminations Fastpass! What a day!
