This is why it's weird to me that Americans think carbs are bad. I think it's just because everything here is overly processed. Like even our bread and jam are probably much more processed than it is in France.

Here in the US, most bad eating habits falls on parents. I'm 48, and have raised 7 children, now aged 13 to 30 (2 of them we fostered, raising). In the past 30 yrs, I can't believe the number of parents who say their children will only eat chicken nuggets, hot dogs, mac and cheese. How is this even an option? The parents buys and cooks the food, making the nutritional decisions, not the 3 yrs old. Child then forms those habits, continuing as if it is normal. A child will not starve if they aren't given junk every day, and they won't even throw a tantrum about it if not shown that is an option. Mine, even the teens, all eat healthy on their own because that is what is normal to them and what they expect, a healthy diet with treats and junk as a treat once in awhile. It starts with Mom & Dad. We are seeing preteens with diet related signs of heart issue and pre-diabetes. That's not ok.
  • These videos are really healing, as someone that struggles really badly with their relationship with food, it is so encouraging to know that eating delicious foods like this is possible within moderation and high-quality ingredients. As someone who is a bit curvier, society has definitely told me that I need to become smaller and in order to do that I have to cut out all of my favorite foods. I have no desire to change my body for the wrong reasons, I only want to be healthy and whole. Thank you for making these videos and reminding me that these foods can be healing too

Your desserts are just called the French word in America. I know exactly what a tarte, croissant, macaroon and eclair are because that's what we call them as well. 😊♥️ Great video.
  • I’m Canadian but I’ve lived in France for over a year and this is so true. The bread and butter\jam for breakfast and it seems like everyone eats yogurt after lunch. There are so many aisles in the grocery store for yogurt. Only one option of peanut butter, if you’re lucky, but 1000’s of yogurts! From my experience French people do not eat at their desk or in their cars like we do in North America.

When I visited France I loved the food so much and felt so much better I wish fresh food was more accessible to us here we don’t have small local bakeries and butchers

in italy we eat very similar meals! we call the quiche "savory pie" and i love making it with spinach and ricotta :) another very popular food from my country is pasta with chickpeas/beans. it's soo delicious and my grandma used to serve it with some side oven-baked veggies

That's how some islands in the Caribbean are due to the European influence. A basic breakfast, heavy lunch and a basic dinner. Breakfast: omelette or sausage and crackers or cocoa tea and bakes (it depends on if it's weekend or week day). Maybe bread and avocado or porridge. Lunch: provision (fig, dasheen, yam, sweet potato) and meat (fish was more common before), soup, fish broth, pelau (rice and chicken one pot). Vegetables and beans are included too lol. Snack: fruits, yogurt. Our cakes are low in sugar (in some islands) but definitely not the flagship of our diet. Dinner: Honestly idk. Dinner really isn't important. Maybe just cereal or just tea. I just eat two scrambled eggs (No bread...just the eggs) The obesity rate in the Caribbean has gone up because of the Americanisation (KFC, refined carbs). I maintain my weight effortlessly by eating a strict Caribbean diet (as long as my portions are sane).

I'm Irish having lived in Germany and now in the US. So helpful to be reminded of how we should eat. To enjoy food, to not ban any certain food or food group. My dad used to say "a little of what you fancy does you good" and "everything in moderation". Portion size, less snacking and eating meals as a family are so important. I was able to loose weight eating family meals at home in Ireland growing up just by reducing portion size and not snacking. Thanks for the reminder to eat salad or a vegetable soup before the main dish. Bravo!
  • I’m American and my bf and I are both pretty thin. And we usually share a meal at a restaurant because of the portion sizes. We just found we usually get full sharing. I would do this with my friends a lot too. But obviously not all restaurants have huge portion sizes.

Loved this video! Can you do a what I eat in a week video please?
  • Most Americans call the pastries the same thing. We just don't pronounce them the same. I love Macarons especially since they tend to be gluten free(body can't tolerate gluten) but I usually make them myself.

That’s interesting that you say French people eat cheese after dinner; in Germany, we have a saying that translates to, “cheese closes the stomach,” and it is also tradition, at least in my family, to munch on cheese after the main meal!
  • You are heaven-sent! French, nutritionist AND vegetarian! So grateful I found you❤️
  • @atharvster
I’m definitely incorporating these meals you showed- simple to prepare, look so aesthetic, tasty and wholesome nutritious. Loved it!
  • I've always struggled with my food relationship. I definitely use food as a reward far more often than I probably should. I've recently been very interested in the way that the French eat, not as a tool for weight loss, but because the culture seems to have a much more realistic and healthier mindset/approach than what I grew up knowing (in Canada). This led me to your videos Lucie and I'm very happy to have found them! Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!
  • I love your videos, they're helping me and my mom to eat in a more healthy way... Please continue to upload, I know you will grow fast girl. Continue with the hard work and kisses from 🇧🇷

This really gives a whole new perspective on food, from viewing fruit as desserts to your soup. I always thought the broth and chicken chunks in a can that was store-bought was soup but I’ve never seen someone actually blend real, fresh vegetables and make a soup. Wow.

Noticed some key things here. Plates are smaller, portions are smaller. Plus Europeans walk much more than we do.
  • @mmdino
It's very similar to a Brazilian way of eating! Probably because of the Portuguese and Italian influence. The sad thing is the increase in processed cheap foods available that is changing the way of eating
