Roasted Brussels Sprouts

2 lbs. Brussels Sprouts
2 Tablespoons bacon grease, melted
garlic powder, to taste
paprika, to taste
2 Tablespoons Kosher Salt, divided
Honey
5 strips bacon, fried and chopped
1/2 cup Craisins

Preheat oven to 425°. Gently wash the Brussels Sprouts and pat dry. Trim the ends off the Brussels Sprouts and remove the outer loose leaves. Cut each sprout in half from top to the stem end. Place in a large bowl.

Drizzle the Brussels Sprouts with melted bacon grease, gently toss to coat, and place in an even later, cut side down, on a parchment paper lined sheet pan. Sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, and 1 tablespoon Kosher Salt.

Bake for 20 minutes. Flip the Brussels Sprouts so cut side is up, sprinkle with additional garlic powder, paprika, and the rest of the Kosher Salt. Adjust the seasonings to your taste. Sprinkle bacon and Craisins over the brussels sprouts and drizzle with honey.

Bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes watching closely so that they don’t burn. If after this baking, the brussels sprouts have not begun to char and caramelize, turn on the broiler and broil until they are as charred as you’d like them. Watch closely.

If desired, flip, and brown on the other side too, but this isn’t necessary.

Hello, I am a new subscriber. I don't care if you reuse parchment paper, I don't care if you don't wash your hands or use your fingers, I don't care if you stick a spoon back in a pot after tasting! It's your home and you are cooking for your own family! If people only knew what goes on behind the scenes in some restaurants, even the high end ones, they would not worry about how you cook! Thank you for sharing your recipes!

  • @Salmomlox

Don’t over look when he said, “we were expected to eat what they (his parents) put on the table.” Ahhh, it reminds me of a time in America that I miss dearly. I guess It’s another reason I love their videos. Oh yeah, the recipes are delicious as well!

My mother cooked it the same way and I didn't like them. I fixed something like yours and she could not believe that my children loved them. So she started cooking them the same way. She's gone home to be with the lord now. It brought back so many memories thank you.

Just watching your Brussels sprouts. They look wonderful. I do apologize for the person that told you not to use your fingers. More than likely someone that does not cook. Enjoy your videos because they are so down to earth. Your kindness to Melissa is noticed , as hers toward you. Thank you for the super recipes. Keep up the great videos.

Tom I love watching your videos. One of the reasons is that you are so down to earth and humble. Dont change a thing about how you present your recipes including "using your fingers" lol it's your house & your food. You are right you are not serving the public. People can be ridiculous..just ignore those comments and keep those recipes coming! Great videos too Melissa! 😊👍

My fave recipe is chopped brussels w/olive oil, sea salt, pepper, garlic powder & 3 tblsp onion jam in oven 375° for 30-40mins tossing once.

I just made these, and they were DELICIOUS. My two words of warning. One, don't use candied pecans and cranberries (they were all I had). Two, if you have a double oven like mine, there is NO WAY you're getting to that first 20 minutes, without burning them. I'd say ten minutes on each side would be plenty (I did 14/6). Thank you for the recipe 😊

  • I absolutely LOVE your cooking videos - I am constantly on YouTube to see your latest creations. First, you and Melissa are two of the most authentic and kind people ever - your love for one another, your love for the Lord, and your love of cooking makes me feel like such a welcomed guest at your table, and in your kitchen (whether at home or in Florida). Tom, you are a gifted chef, and your humble and thoughtful approach to cooking inspires me. Truly, I am blessed by your cooking ministry, and approach my own kitchen with far less trepidation and increased enthusiasm. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy this part of y’all’s lives. So, lick your fingers, bang your pots and spoons, wash or don’t wash your hands, keep wearing your amazing T-shirts, keep inviting that beautiful wife of yours to take “Princess-size” tastes of your splendid cooking (I love her precious/supportive comments), and keep sharing the Good News of happiness and joy. Blessings to you and yours, for now and always.
  • Oh my goodness. This is my "must try recipe" Thank you Tom and Melissa! Oh, and Tom your using those clean hands are not offensive to all.. So, you use them all you want!

OMG!!!! I love Brussel Sprouts anyway, but this recipe is soooooooo good..A little back story: my brother's name is Russell and I always called the Brussel Sprouts : Russell Sprouts just to tease him. So enjoy you Tom and Melissa. You always present the receipe and "how to" so well. I've been cooking for a long time but it's always great to find a new recipe. Keep going! 😋
