After 15 years, the community has more or less picked apart Dead Rising of all the hilarious and confusing "engrish" and mistakes it has to offer. Today, we discover some from much earlier versions of the game, which are a treasure chest of unfinished nonsense.

This channel is like a well-kept secret in the Dead Rising community.

Frank looking at the calendar instead of a map could be interpreted as him worrying about being on time for the helicopter and weighing his priorities.

"Otis starts to multiply" is the most terrifying sentence I've ever heard

A lot of the spelling mistakes were caused by confusion between the L and R sounds. In Japanese they're both merged into the same sound, so Japanese speakers mix them up a lot when they're dealing with English text.
  • 0:08 West Virginian here, I can assure you that I have multiple neighbors who fire off semi automatic rifles every evening. Signs like that don't even surprise me anymore.

6:31 Gotta say, Cheryl is way hotter in this build than she is in the release build. Like, waaaaaay hotter.
  • Honestly my humor is so broken that you said “European Brend” and I didn’t stop laughing for the rest of the video

STiP0, The Leader of the Dead Rising community! Thank you for what you do. This game feels like a part of me, and I am so thankful that there are people who feel the same way! ❤️

    It’s a good day when stip0 uploads

My guess for the treadmills is that they were used as debug/testing to teleport to different areas of the game quickly. And then they removed that functionality for the vegas demo.

3:44 here's your actual answer: this is probably because interaction points can be programmed to do different things. the interaction point of an item is programmed to attach it to franks hand and load any weapon data, for instance. before you pick it up, it's just an object. this is most likely on a hard-coded level, so to that extent, these treadmills' interaction points were probably programmed as "doors" as placeholders, since they hadn't programmed them for the special interaction of "start the treadmill" yet.

So basically Dead Rising’s early development stages were just a fever dream? Not gonna lie, I was put in fight or flight mode when I saw shadow Otis like he was a secret character in fnaf or some shit 😂

Even though some of labels and signs had engrish or nonsensical words, it was there and made the game feel more alive and detailed. Most modern games would’ve probably added nothing or made it blurry so you can’t make out what it says.
  • Keep doing what you do, it’s always appreciated on this end! I’ve been obsessed with this game since it released in late ‘06!

I love seeing japanese game companies try to create American style advertising with the English and stock photos. It cracks me up I wanna see more of it
  • Great video STiPO an interesting thought I’ve always had was how did the vehicles and the prisoners get into leisure park? Since there’s no real entrance to get there not even in the maintenance tunnels. Maybe no real explanation but it’s hard to think about it 😂

Thanks for giving me a good laugh from these bizarre details. My personal favorites are "The snister read" and "chicken naggets"

Two convicts? I can already hear two "WEEEEEEELLLLLLL..." stacked on top of one another. It's more intimidating that any wardrum.
