it's insane that ginny had more screen time in the movies compared to her appearances in the books and yet they STILL managed to make her so much blander in the movies
  • @CZsWorld
It ends with 7 perfect matches in a row. 7 is a very important number in the HP franchise. How perfect.

It's crazy how iconic some of these characters are but only have like 2 or 3 minutes of screen time. Kudos to the actors for making those characters stick in our heads

The extra time for Shacklebolt in the films was worth it for “Dumbledore’s got style”
  • @Hendricus56
Makes sense the top 7 are so balanced. The Golden trio is the main group, followed by Dumbledore as the wise man guiding them and Snape with his complex history etc and presence during all years as a teacher. And then there are Voldemort and Draco, the 2 main antagonists
  • Amazing presence of Tom Felton. 31/8 is not even 4 minutes per film, yet his internal struggle feels like a constant gnawing in the back of your mind throughout the entire series.
  • I am so shock to learn that Ginny is #8 in screen time with more than 30 mins in the movies when she was so invisible to me in the movies. She is literally higher in the movies than in the books yet she have more of a presense in the books. She is a wallflower you won't really notice in the movie. LOL
  • I like how Peeves made as many appearances in your video as the movies! Another perfect match!
  • @Laramaria2
It still hurts to think Bill Weasley's casting was so good just so he was wasted on screen 😠 Great video! The amount of time and effort you put into this is admirable! ❤

Gilderoy getting himself more screentime than time in the books is such a Gilderoy move! 😂😂

I think the problem for the weasly brothers is this: There is a lot of talk going on in the family, when Bill, Charlie and Percy are not around, so naturally their name gets mentioned a lot in the book even when they are not present in the scene. The same goes for different other characters like James Potter. Lilly gets her screentime from the scene of her death, where james is already dead and from snape's memories. James is present mostly in harry's thoughts and the talks with Sirius and Lupin.

Crazy that Lockhart basically in a single film has more screen time than Molly Weasley over the whole series.
  • @KingOfMelos
It's pretty crazy how some characters can be perfectly matched in this ranking, while having their spot in the story almost completely removed for the films. Yes, I'm thinking about Dobby. The fact that he's perfectly matched, while only being in 2 films, is insane considering how much more important he is to the story in the books
  • @azentra7560
The fact that people like Ginny and especially Dobby are so close to their book ranking, yet SO much of what happened to or with them in the books is left out, really emphasizes the fact that the films left out a whole lot more than you would initially think or realize...

One reason for the James and Lilly difference in the books and movies is that most of the book mentions say things like "You look just like James, but have your mothers eyes." There were also other times where she was mentioned as his mother while James was mentioned by name, such as all the times he has visions of his mom being killed by Voldemort. That would give James more mentions, though Lilly likely had much more (or at least comparable) "screen time" in the books. The same is true of Nagini, who is often called a snake, but is in the background or taking part in more book passages, such as the whole time Nagani possessed Bagshots body. I would also be curious how many more mentions each professor gets if you count people calling them Professor. Good job. It would be awesome to see how much time people actually had in the books, but that would be an insane task, and your solution is a great one.
  • There it is. The number 7 in the Harry Potter universe, with the Top 7 being the same 7 characters in the exact same spots for book time as well as screen time, giving us a streak of 7 for perfectly accurate.

I know for a fact that everyone can appreciate this video and how much work went into it. I love the Harry Potter franchise and everything about it. (Except for the cursed child lol) Everything is so perfectly planned out in your videos and we should all appreciate how much hard work goes into these videos. Thank you so much for doing what you do!!
  • @riakun
Thanks so much for doing this video. I’ve actually been wondering for a while now about the different characters and the difference between movie and book appearances/mentions, but never had the patience to figure it all out. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Thanks for you and your fiancée’s hard work!
